Last night was our (re)framed exhibition party at Krowji hosted by ACJ Cornwall held in

This is intended to be a way of ‘reframing’ how we view what jewellery is and what it’s for: jewellery is art.

The exhibition is an invitation to the makers to create pieces they might not normally have chance to do in their commercial practice. They've challenged themselves to make wearable sculpture, often carrying personal messages, which is as comfortable being admired in a frame on a wall as it is being worn as a statement piece on a body.

Inspired by the sea, I often use beach finds, particularly limpet shells in my work. This large, one-off neckpiece incorporates real shells, celebrating their natural variation and the uniqueness of each individual element.

I’ve just had a week staying in Polperro. This was a combination of time to relax & also explore… a daily beach clean resulting in a huge amount of detritus! Some beautiful natural finds alongside a depressing amount of plastic which increased as the week went on & the weather worsened.

I have used some of these pieces found to make marks, textures & surface inspiration. Little sketchbook ideas which may develop into metalwork or larger paintings.

Such a valuable time spent especially in January to kick start creative endeavours!
