Don’t forget about our Christmas sale at the Gaolyard Studios on Friday! Here is some work by Kat Wheeler Ceramics. Kat is originally from East Tennessee. She did her BFA in Ceramics at the Appalachian Center for Crafts and then moved to St Ives to work in the production studio of the Leach Pottery from 2009-2019. Kat has since worked full time here at the Gaolyard Studios, making and selling her work at shows across the UK and US. Kat’s work is thrown in a terracotta and decorated with thick, textural slip. It’s glazed with ash glazes and high fired to 1220 in an electric kiln.

The studios will be open this Friday from 1-7 pm. There will be mulled wine available from 5. Choose a handmade cup to drink mulled wine from. If you want to take it home with you, they’re all available to purchase for just £10!

Here’s a few of my recent pots, fired at the Gaolyard Studios. They will be laid out for sale at our Christmas sale. Maybe sale is too mild of a word. How about Christmas extravaganza?! That sounds more accurate.

This is Hamish Jackson (.jackson.pottery) by the way. I just joined the studio in the late Summer so this will be my first Christmas in the Gaol. Come and drink some mulled wine with us! December 12th 1-7pm. The extravaganza part will start at roughly 2pm.

There will be a feast of pots made by myself as well as Laura Crosland (), Helen Lee () and Kat Wheeler ().

Hello there! I’m Hamish Jackson (.jackson.pottery). I became a member at the Gaolyard Studios in August this year.

To briefly introduce myself… I’m a potter from England but have spent the last decade working in the United States. I apprenticed for Mark Hewitt in North Carolina for four years and completed an MFA from Utah State University amongst other potting adventures! My wife and I decided we wanted to try raising our kids on this side of the pond and are thrilled to have landed in Cornwall.

It’s been wonderful getting to know the other artists who work at the Gaolyard… Laura Crosland () Helen () Kat Wheeler () Amanda Ray () and Anne McCrossan (). We are having a Christmas holiday sale soon! It’s at the Gaolyard Studios in St Ives.

Mark your calendars! Friday 12th December 1pm-7pm. And we’ll have £10 cups with free mulled wine from 5pm (I may have to crack open the mulled wine earlier if there are others to assist).

Join us at the Gaolyard Studios on Friday 12th December for mulled wine and pottery. We are hosting a mini Christmas fair in our kiln room, featuring Gaolyard residents. Our doors will open from 1pm and mulled wine will be served in hand made cups from 5pm.

We will be once again hosting our annual cup sale on Wednesday evening, as part of
We have all made a small batch of cups for the event. We will be serving wine or fruit juice in the cups, then if you fall in love with your cup, you can buy it and take it home with you.
The event is 5-7 pm Wednesday 17th.

There's not long to go now before we welcome you in to the Gaolyard for Open Studios, as part of St Ives September Festival. St Ives September Festival
A selection of potters will be opening their doors from Wednesday 17th up to and including Wednesday 24th September.
10am - 5 pm.
We will also be hosting our annual drinks event Wednesday 17th 5-7 pm. We have each made a small batch of cups for the event. Join us for a drink of wine, then if you fall in love with your cup, you can buy it and take it home with you.
