LAWRIE HUTCHEON

Lawrie Hutcheon's work explores the relationship between colour, light and perception, creating pieces that reveal something different as you look at them.

His distinctive circular works bring this exploration into a beautiful, compact format, with color combinations that shift and interact in unexpected ways.

KATRINA SLACK

From delicate seahorses with sea-glass eyes to expressive bird sculptures and atmospheric paintings, Katrina Slack’s work brings together the natural world and the materials we leave behind.

Working with wire, plastics and found materials, Katrina creates sculptural forms that are both fragile and characterful — each piece retaining something of the materials’ previous life.

Alongside her sculptures, her paintings explore a darker, more elusive relationship with landscape. 'Woodlands – In Fear of Drowning', a sketch on board, draws us into a moody, uncertain space where landscape becomes as much about atmosphere as place.

Three very different works, but connected by Katrina’s distinctive way of looking at the world around her.

A graceful presence from the sea

A beautifully simple sculptural interpretation of one of the sea’s most graceful creatures, created by local sculptor Steve Baddeley and currently on display at Gallery 5 Salcombe.

Salcombe through the eyes of Flo Snook

Flo's paintings capture familiar Salcombe scenes through bold black line work set against soft, muted tones, with carefully chosen touches of colour drawing attention to small details - a boat, a bouy or a glimpse of the landscape.

Flo also translates her paintings into embroidered pieces, picking out details from the original images in stitch and adding a beautiful tactical quality to the work.

A selection of Flo's paintings and embroidered pieces are currently on display at Gallery 5 Salcombe.

We’re delighted to be featuring 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻 at Gallery 5. Her beautifully observed, nature-inspired paintings bring a fresh and distinctive voice to the gallery.

Grace has also recently been featured by 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 as one of their 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 artists — a wonderful recognition of her emerging practice.
