CLOSURE NOTICE
It is with a heavy heart and sincere regret, to officially inform you that GALLERY 21 closed it's doors for the last time on 29th April 2026.
We would like to reassure the very few clients remaining, who still have an outstanding order or commission with Gallery 21, that every order will be honoured, delivered and installed (if previously agreed), before the end of July 2026.
The Director of Gallery 21 will personally email each of you with your full individual update, prior to the end of June 2026
Quite simply there are three main factors why this has arisen:-
Firstly:
The business has never truly recovered from its debts incurred as a result of Covid and as a new business at that time it also never received any Government payouts, Bounce Back loans and no staff obtaining any Furlough payments.
Secondly (and mainly):
In the last twelve months our trade started to noticeably slow down. As a percentage, nearly 70% of our trading days in 2026 showed G21 trading at a huge loss, due to lack of High St sales and footfall.
Thirdly:
Since operating the company Salisbury & Wiltshire County Council have seen fit to increase their organised various events on the Square, directly in front of the gallery premises. For nearly four months of the year, these events totally obstruct the business premises from public view, during those periods we just as well had been closed, as our footfall during those events is near non-existent.
Clearly this has put the business into an insolvent position, occurring substantial debts that it simply cannot pay, nor currently being capable to trade out of, even over a long period of time.
Due to Gallery 21 Ltd being unable to supply company accounts on time for it’s last trading year, we anticipate a ‘Compulsory Strike Off Notice’ by Companies House to be advertised in ‘The Gazette’ in June 2026 (approximately). ‘The Gazette’ is the UK's official public record declaring the intention of Companies House to remove a company from the register and dissolve it. A First Gazette Notice initiates a mandatory three-month period for objections, while a Final Gazette Notice confirms the company has been officially dissolved, meaning it ceases to exist as a legal entity.
This will be on public record for anyone to view.
