Hi everyone,
Over many months, people from the 1940s scene, supporters on line and those who have visited and had the privilege to sail on the P22 have been asking what is happening to the her. At the moment she is still out of the water and at Sandwich Marina. With her being on dry land it is easier to address a few of the items that need to be fixed, such as the hull which needs re-priming and painting , a few electrical and fresh water issues and general maintenance. Because she’s 80 feet long and 30 ton it doesn’t happen overnight. As to her future we are still unsure, but optimistic. If anything changes in the future, we will obviously post it on this site.

Remembering 🌺

The USN P-22 may now be in dry dock, no longer resting in the waters at Sandwich, but our respect and remembrance remain as strong as ever.

We remember those who served aboard her, those who have served before, and those who continue to serve today.

The sailor standing on her deck with two poppies is a touching reminder that remembrance isn’t just about the past, it’s about honouring the courage, dedication, and sacrifice that live on.

Lest we forget. ❤️

The much visited P22 Cold War patrol boat based at Sandwich Quay has closed and has been lifted out at Sandwich Marina for the winter hoping that new owners can be found to take her forward next year.

Due to family ill health Mr Field has had to change his focus and can no longer spend so much time being in charge of the vessel and is very very great full to the wonderful re enactor’s and volunteers that helped him keep the boat alive, telling its special Cold War history to the schools and visitors over the past eight years. Mr Field is contacting other Museums and organisations hoping they can take this special vessel forward in 2025.
