18th of may 1978 had an article from John Forman on Steam locomotives, notably the British Rail 9F. Also Featured is the story of Danes visiting the 2 rod mills at the time, also featured we're the Obituary's and the Blood drive.

A collection of Steel News, App Frod Records and App Frod news have been donated to our museum collection, and are kindly being scanned by a good friend of the railway and slowly being added to the AFR-S museum collection.

This weeks TBT goes back to May 1994, with the introduction of Drivers having to stop at all rail crossings on the works, Who would have thought that anyone would try and take on a locomotive and its train in a motor vehicle.

Throw Back Thursday

Back in 1982 on the 13th of May, The then British Steel News reported on a 200 tonne Boiler was moved from the Normanby Park works to the Appleby Frodingham works power station. stand 34ft , and travelling at 2mph for 10 miles, it must have been an epic feat to witness.

Locomotive 58 has received a new coat of varnish , and 54 a clean ready for taking upcoming tours. And a shot of locomotive no1 and her crew (minis Rob who was preparing the train) on Saturday.

We have spaces on driver experiences and railtours in August at the moment, with September and October dates to release.
