🚶♀️✨ New exhibition: Path of Desire – Muriel Prince ✨🚶♀️
Step into a world where walking becomes drawing, and landscape is reimagined through movement, memory, and mark‑making.
Path of Desire is a captivating new exhibition by mixed media artist Muriel Prince, based in the Scottish Borders. Inspired by her unique practice of “draw walking,” Muriel records the rhythm of walking itself — translating fleeting impressions, gestures, and encounters into expressive works created in the moment.
The exhibition features a rich new collection of painted and printed hangings, intricate scrolls, and textured textiles layered with striking decorative motifs. Visitors are also invited behind the scenes, with a reconstructed studio wall revealing bark rubbings, sketchbook experiments, annotated drawings, photographs, and fabric studies.
From the initial walk‑drawings emerge abstract forms, symbols, and patterns developed through print, paint, collage, and stitch. Textile works — some presented on vintage bobbins as a nod to the Borders’ textile heritage — combine hand embroidery with machine‑drawn lines in tactile, thoughtful compositions.
Large‑scale digitally printed fabric panels layer photography with poetic haiku inspired by precise points along Muriel’s walking routes, adding a deeply immersive dimension to the exhibition.
This is more than an exhibition — it’s an invitation to slow down, look differently, and connect with the natural world through movement, texture, and imagination.
