COASTS IN MIND
Creative Workshops with Legacy project Sheppey Matters & MOLA
Are you aged 60+ and would like to discover local coastal heritage while building confidence, creativity, and connection within your community.
Learn new skills alongside MOLA archaeologists and local artist Laurie Harpum, combining creativity with Sheppey’s rich coastal history and natural environment.

Outdoor Creative Workshop
📍 Beach Street Car Park, Beach Street, Sheerness, ME12 1HH
(Paid parking only)
Join us outdoors to explore the coastline and its history.
Participants will:
Learn about local coastal history and nature
Work collaboratively to create a large outdoor sculpture
Gather natural materials from the beach
Or create their own sculpture from the promenade with access to seating
This will be a relaxed, supportive environment with flexibility to take part at your own pace.

Indoor Creative Workshop
📍 The Criterion, Blue Town
69 High Street, Sheerness, ME12 1RW
Take part in a hands-on indoor session where participants will:
Create sculptures using salvaged materials and clay
Reflect Sheppey’s coastal history and environment through art
Be guided step-by-step by experienced facilitators
This is a welcoming space designed to build confidence and encourage creativity.
Who is this for?
People aged 60+ Living locally on the Isle of Sheppey who are interested in meeting others, learning new skills, and reconnecting with the community.
