Kelham Island Arts Collective The Education Space is suitable for evening classes, workshops, daytime classes or can be hired by the hour as a creative space.

A community based, not-for-profit arts centre, KIAC provides arts studios for rent, a large gallery for art exhibitions and other events and an education space for workshops, classes and other activities. Housed in an ex-industrial building on the site of a former steelworks, KIAC has about 20 artists studios of various sizes and types, available with 24-hour access, from £60 per month inclusive.

The gallery can be used for exhibitions, drama events and rehersals, film and photographic shoots, fashion shows, poetry readings etc. The area of Kelham Island, just 10 minutes walk from the city centre, is known for its real-ale pubs and restaurants and rich industrial heritige, and is fast becoming a centre for creative industies and creative arts in general.

After a long break I'm pleased to announce another Clay Sculpture course over two Sundays on 23rd and 30th March 2025.

We will spend two days (10am-4:30pm) making figures in clay working from an excellent life model at KIAC. Come and enjoy exploring shape, form and structure, making a realistic or abstract sculpture. All levels are welcome from beginners to experienced artists. The price is £140 for the course.

Clay to make a medium size figure is included. Work can be hollowed out later and fired in a kiln (for a small extra fee). Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided during the breaks. Please bring a packed lunch, or come with others to a nearby cafe or restaurant.
