Operating in the fifteenth century restored building known as "The Bear Steps" at the centre of medieval Shrewsbury, the art gallery is a wonderful place for both budding & professional artists to display their work. For visitors, it is a haven of calm off the main shopping streets and provides the opportunity to view a wide variety of exhibitions which change every fortnight. For tourists, there

is also a range of local information and maps available - and often a knowledgeable Civic Society volunteer behind the counter to chat about the town and its wonderful features. "Our Town, Our Passion"

We have 3 galleries: The Main Hall (£150)
The Balcony (£70)
The Link Room (£40)
All prices are for a fortnightly slot & there is also 25% commission to pay on all sales.

Our Civic Buildings Exhibition is on until the 17th June so please do pop into Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and take a look at the pieces submitted by local artists. There are also postcards for sale in the shop of some of the pieces.

Currently exhibiting in the Main Hall, having his third exhibition with us, is deaf blind artist John Finn.

The third exhibition is about haptic art. He designed three different sizes of bird houses with various sensory textures of patterns as well as pottery bowls with deep cut shapes and patterns in order to create sensory feel of textures. This exhibition explores sensory textures on wood and clay.
Sighted people buy things on appearances whereas this exhibition create a more accessible experiences for deaf blind people and blind people to buy things on sensory experiences.

Due to a cancellation the 'Stranger Things' exhibition is continuing for 2 more weeks upstairs...kind of 😊Claire Valentine-Gibson now has a solo exhibition on the balcony & in the Link Room is work from Sheila Benson, Olivia Kerswell, David Lupine & Mike Wilcox. It runs until 4pm on Saturday November 22nd 😄
