Three images from 'What a Picture!', our photography exhibition currently on show throughout the Denby Dale Parish Council building in Skelmanthorpe. If you're visiting the library why not extend your visit to wander round the village's own art gallery and take a look at the wonderful collection of pictures from Skelmanthorpe U3A Photography Group and individual photographers.

1. Vintage Lunchbox Guitar - Wendy Cutts
2. Evening, Moorland Fragment - William Fediw
3. Man in Tree - Alan Kitson, U3A Photography Group

The exhibition is free to enter and is open until October 24th

A new venture for Village Art, hoping to attract new artists to what is, I believe, a good gallery. Although I may be a little biased.

It really is impossible to believe that these two 'donors' have given from the goodness of their hearts. They are trying to buy a government.

It’s not just that Nigel Farage claimed his movement abhorred the super-rich. It’s also the obscenity of individuals seeking so much sway over who runs the country, says Guardian columnist Owen Jones

Below, an unsolicited comment from a visitor who had a sneak preview of the U3A Photography Group exhibition in the Village Art Room. Not verbatim, but if I paraphrase it's not by very much.

"Brilliant!. They're stunning. Had I the money and the wall space I'd buy them all."

I'm delighted to announce that the winner of the People's Prize in our Summer Exhibition is John Elliott with his watercolour 'The Tide's Gone Out'.

John's prize, sponsored by Denby Dale Parish Council, is a £100 voucher from Jackson's of London, to be spent on art materials and, alongside the First Prize and Highly Commended winners, Reini Schühle and Ann Raby, an exhibition in January and February of 2027.

Congratulations John, Reini and Ann.
