F I S H P O N D W O O D S 💚

Probably one you’ve never heard of is this one!

It starts in Bewerley next to Pateley Bridge and is perfect for little ones at around 2 miles with LOADS of variety.

Running through fields, walking through woods, seeing the ducks, stunning views, teeth in a bridge… yes you heard real life teeth!! Plus a scary old ice house, a jetty into the pond and the bribe of the sweetshop in Pateley Bridge for after.

Start in Beverley and take the footpath across the fields at what3words: comedy.flux.physics

At the top of the fields the footpath then heads down into the woods. You can do a loop of the pond in any direction but the path to the left heads up to the ice house, and the path to the right heads up and over and down towards the bridge with the teeth in it. You do have to exit the woods and walk down the lane to the bridge. Retrace your steps back to the village.

C R A V E N M U S E U M 💫

Have you visited the award winning museum in Skipton Town Hall yet? If not, why not!

A brilliant FREE place to visit with lots to keep the little ones entertained.

Showcasing the history of Craven there are lots of exhibits to look at. There are trail sheets for different age groups so spark their curiosity to investigate things further. Lots of interactive exhibits so they can play games to get a deeper understanding. Plenty of ones to listen to. Feely boxes to discover. Drawers to pull out and examine the artifacts. Dressing up clothes to wear. Magnets to play. An art gallery to view…. Phew! A lot!

On top of that you can pick up a sensory bag with lots of sensory toys for little ones to use such as the magnifying glasses and fidget toys. My 2 loved these!

Our local museum is a fab fab fab place to visit.

G R A S S W O O D S 💚

We visited a walk we haven’t done for a long time and I’m annoyed I haven’t been back sooner!!

We did a circular walk around the woods which was surprisingly up and down on a mixture of paths.

The kids loved running ahead exploring and discovering somewhere new.

So close to Grassington too for a treat afterwards or to visit the playground like we did.

C A N A L B O A T T R I P 💙

A 30 minute canal boat trip on the Leeds Liverpool canal in Skipton is a must if you are visiting with little ones!

Departing every half hour from the canal basin, £5pp plus you can get some duck food for £1.

The boys loved riding the boats and especially throwing all the duck food in for the very full ducks now I’m sure.

The boat goes down behind the bus station before turning round and then heading back up the other way towards the Woods.

Cute little adventure for you all to do this summer!

S K I P T O N W O O D S 💚

A lovely early evening stomp through Skipton Woods.

3km circular coming in off Grassington Road, walking the top path round and down to join the path alongside the beck. Following it down past the tarn and waterfall then out via the back of the Skipton Castle.

Meet Jumbo - a huge roaming animatronic elephant who’s going to be exploring Coney Street!

Standing up to 2 metres tall, Jumbo is bringing a little bit of jungle magic to York for their next Family Friendly Saturday.

C O L D S T O N E C U T 💚

Coldstone Cut in Nidderdale is a fab short walk for little legs.

If you can it’s best to go during the week so that they can watch the construction vehicles moving about in the quarry.

Free parking too.

Combine with a trip down to Pateley Bridge to the playground and a walk along the river.

Heads up!

The strawberries are ready early at Spilman Farming so they are opening one week ahead of schedule on 30th May!

You do have to pay £2.50 pp (under 2s free). But if you spend £5pp on fruit you get your entry fee refunded.

There is also a Wildflower field that you can go in - PYO for £5

Pre booking is recommended.

Ideas for days out… house and gardens edition.

With space to run round, a house to explore, a playground plus events on throughout the summer check out these properties.

🌺 Kiplin Hall - near Richmond this house with an impressive lake is a great place to spend the day. Walks through the deer park, around the lake or completing the sculpture trail. A playground too to entertain the little ones. There’s a tea room on site too next to the gardens.

🌺 Ripley Castle - near Harrogate this small castle also has a lake and a deer park you can explore. There’s a children’s playground plus a trim trail and musical instruments to enjoy in the gardens. A walled garden finishes the property off before you can enjoy treats in the cafe or head to the world famous Ripley Ice Cream

🌺 Newby Hall & Gardens - near Ripon this house and gardens has the best children’s play area. With swing boats, sand pit, pedal boats, zip line, wobbly bridge, pirates lookout tower, rope swings, playground AND a miniature train they will have a whale of a time. In the summer the fountains are going so take a change of clothes! Lots of formal gardens to explore too so you can spend a full day here. Cafe on site.
