Big news for Ilfracombe…
We’re excited to share that we’re working with North Devon Council and Ilfracombe Town Council on plans to relocate the museum to the Old Post Office on the High Street.
Our current lease is coming to an end and, due to increasing flood risk, we’re no longer able to remain in the existing building.

The good news?
This move gives us a huge opportunity to reimagine the
museum for the future — with more space for exhibitions, improved storage, and the potential for a café, community space, and better accessibility for everyone.
We’re now preparing a National Lottery grant application to help bring this vision to life. It’s a long-term project, but an exciting one.

And this is where you come in…
Over the coming months, we’ll be asking you — our community — what you’d love to see in the new museum. What stories should we tell? What experiences should we create?
Your voice will help shape this next chapter.

🎉 The Great Scaffold Takedown is almost here!
The internal scaffolding will be removed between 22nd and 26th June.

⚠️ On Thursday 25th June, a limited number of stalls will be trading from the front entrance area while the work takes place. Many of your regular traders can still be found in the front entrance area and throughout the outdoor market, which will be fully open as usual.

✅ Saturday 27th June sees the return of our normal indoor market as the restoration project reaches this exciting milestone.

Can you help us? We have a number of activities this summer that need recycled materials. We are looking for:
-Kitchen roll tubes
-Margarine tubs (500g size)
-Plastic bottles (500ml size)

If you have any of these, or can collect a few for us, we would very much appreciate it if you can drop them in during opening hours. We will need them for the Summer Holidays. We are particularly short of margarine tubs. Thank you!
