Excellent Dimbola museum in Freshwater Bay is well worth a visit with its sculptures inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Tennyson’s ‘The lady of Shalott’. Hendrix played the Isle of Wight Festival in the early hours of August 31, 1970. Held at Afton Down, ( just up the Hill ) this performance was his final full live concert in the United Kingdom before his death less than three weeks later. The set was part of a legendary 5-day festival attended by over 600,000 people.. Also the cafe has the best cake on the Island!
