A fascinating and thought provoking evening. Pictured with President Michelle are our first speaker, a friend of many, Staffordshire Women's Aid CEO Charlotte Almond (right). Looking back over the development of services for women in Stafford over 50 years, current needs and hopes for the future.
Then Jaimi Shrive from VictimFocus shared her experiences with us (pictured left). She talked to us about creating a trauma informed approach to supporting the victims and survivors of violence against women and girls, how it has impacted the government's VAWG Strategy and how we, as Soroptimists can best influence positive change for women and girls.

It's Volunteer Week in the UK, the week when volunteers are acknowledged, those who freely give their time for the benefit of others. So whatever you do as a volunteer, THANK YOU! Volunteers are the life blood of so much which sustains and enriches our lives and our environment. As Soroptimists we're volunteers standing up for women and girls globally, nationally and locally. You could be too. Why not meet us and see if we fit your agenda.

How exciting is this? Midland Chase Region currently consists of 9 Clubs and in 3 weeks we're about to become 10 Clubs, with the Charter of SI Athena. A new style, inclusive Club for women who care about women and girls. There are new members from far and wide joining us and we're thrilled to welcome them. Could you be the next member?

Did you know that today is World Menstrual Hygiene Day? Why should this matter? Because we believe that every person who menstruates should be able to do so with dignity. 'Together for a period friendly world' is the theme.
This year our members will be putting together a hygiene and care bag in memory of every woman who loses her life as a result of domestic abuse in the UK. The bags will be donated to our local domestic and sexual abuse support charity to support survivors and to provide dignity through hygiene.

Do you care about issues affecting women? Women's health, equality, education, empowerment, providing enabling opportunities for others, raising awareness of issues affecting half of the population, providing advocacy for those without a voice, taking action for change.
A global organisation for women, supporting women and girls worldwide. We have face to face Clubs, online Clubs and you can be an Associate Member, if you're not able to get together with other members through the other options. Join us. Our next meeting is at 7p.m. on Tuesday 2nd June. Fancy meeting us? Let us know and we'll arrange to welcome you at the venue.
