Wow what an incredible start to this year's Stockport Open Exhibition! Over 200 people came to support Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery and our artists!

Many thanks to the fantastic Northern Threads for providing a the musical interludes this afternoon. You can hear their tracks in the Exhibition.

Huge thanks go to the Art Gallery Team which includes Staff and Volunteers, for making today run so smoothly!

It was a busy Day 4 of the Open Exhibition Handing In Days!

Artists were bringing their artworks right up to the end of play today!

This year's show is going to be so varied that we're sure you're going to enjoy it!

Plus, all visitors to the exhibition will be invited to vote for their favourite artwork in the People's Choice Awards!

So, to get you in the mood for the show, which opens with the Artist's preview on Sat 20th (edited) June at 1pm and is on during opening hours until 27th August, here are a few close up photos of artworks you won't want to miss!

We're into Day 3 of the Open Exhibition and we had even more artworks brought through the front doors!

At the end of today's handing in, staff and volunteers had a look around the amazing work our artists have shared with us to display, and wanted to give you a sneak look behind the scenes.

Visitors will be able to see the exhibition in full from Sun 21st June to Thur 27th during Opening Hours:

Thurs & Fri 1pm - 5pm
Sat 10am - 5pm
Sun 11am - 4pm

Plus visitors can vote for their favourite artwork in the People's Choice Awards😊👍

It was Day 2 of the Open Exhibition Handing In Days! And again our artists didn't dissapoint!

From amazing ceramics to a mechanical swan,there will definitely be something for everyone to enjoy in the show!

What a magnificent start to the Open Exhibition this afternoon! So many artists braved the rain ☔️ to drop off their artworks!

And what a selection we have already! Here's a sneak peek of a few of the artworks that have been submitted so far.

If you'd like to submit an artwork, max size 1m x 1m in any direction, you still have time to let us know online or drop in to complete a hard copy form.

It's great to see 👀so many submissions coming through online from Visual Artists, Crafters, Photographers , Musicians, Textile Artists and more! 🎨

We wanted to remind you that we are also looking for work from Stockport's young artists aged 6 and upwards! 🖼️

Artists aged between 17 - 25 will automatically be entered into the Michael Hartley-Rose Award category which is a prize sponsored by Stockport Art Guild.

So get your pens, pencils, paint and paper at the ready and show us what you can do! ✏️

Entry into this year's Stockport Open Exhibition is FREE for all.

Did you know that Thursday is your opportunity to brush up on your Still Life drawing skills ahead of the Stockport Open Exhibition, as we open our doors from 1pm and and invite visitors to our Mindful Still Life drawing sessions, which are completely free of charge to attend.

The Art Gallery supplies basic materials of pencils and paper, but feel feel free to bring your own equipment if you wish 🎨

Visitors are encouraged to arrange the Still Life items to their liking, and even bring things along to draw too.
