So since doing the HWR Fundraiser, I know it's brought quite a few new followers! Thank you so much for finding me πŸ’š and because of this I thought I'd better reintroduce myself, so you can put a face to the name, and you know a little more about me πŸ˜‰

My name is Hannah, and I live on the beautiful Applecross Peninsula, with my husband, 5 year old son, and floofy border collie. I have always loved nature, and living where we do you cannot fail but notice it all. It inspires me daily. And so all my artwork is inspired by what surrounds me - from the mini beasts in the garden, to the birds in the air, the shells and life found at the beach, and of course my beautiful night time visitors...badgers, pine martens, and now a fox too. I have worked with acrylics since taking on Patterns of Light twelve years ago, as I love the colours I can get. But my new love is burning things first πŸ˜‰ so since January I've been combining pyrography and painting to create nature inspired mixed media pieces. Some of these are on birch ply, some (like the Otter for the fundraiser) on live edge wood slices. I also do smaller bowls as well. And I hand make my own cards, and do as much of my own printing as possible. So my jewellery and ceramic hangings are all made here at home by myself too. Anything I can't make myself, I have printed within the UK.

I try to get to local markets through the season, although this is a little trickier just now, and in the coming months I will be limited by school hours, as my wee man starts school in August! So I'm trying to grow my online business, and have recently switched my website to try and make this easier for folk to buy from me directly. I also have a separate print on demand clothing shop, where you can purchase tshirts and hoodies with my nature inspired designs. And I supply my jewellery and cards on a wholesale basis to other small businesses, and have my work in a couple of galleries.

Thank you so much for joining me, and I hope you enjoy the journey. I am planning more fundraising in future, so keep your eyes peeled πŸ˜‰β€οΈ

The picture collage below features some of my work, products, in progress shots, a wee peek at home, and a couple of photos of me!

Another beautiful badger......because I love Sam's work, and have nothing new of my own to share right now πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ hoping to remedy that soon, but my head is still too full of other stuff to focus on creativity properly....

I finished the badger yesterday.
I was going to save it until Sunday but I may just not post on Sunday, give myself a 'free headspace day' instead.

I popped it on the 'samcannonart' place and titled it 'Mochyn Daear' which, and I really hope I've got it right, translates to Earth Pig in Welsh. Which is adorable. And I hope you find this beautiful face adorable too. All of the flowers surrounding this badger, emerging from the base of a tree grow here in our field and garden.

I've placed an order for some prints.

I was shattered yesterday - squeezed in too much. Why don't days with beautiful weather last longer??? And ones where you are feeling blue or it's all too much be shortened. With minutes rolled over like they do with your mobile phones.

After the rain on Monday I planted some herbs out, planted two apples trees in the orchard with the long eared fools for company. Diets are going well so it was only a quick excursion for them into this place full of wild flowers and thistles. And then lured them out 20 minutes later with the crinkling noise of a packet of ginger biscuits.

If you see this painting, as ever, I'd be soooo grateful if you could interact with it in some way. New eyes on it mean new opportunities for me to keep doing this.

And have a lovely Wednesday. I'm off to feed the birds and kiss donkeys ❀️

ps I researched all your beetle and bug ideas from last week ready to start my new circular beetle picture today. What a joy that was too. So thank you for your suggestions.

Lots of bluebells in the woodland still. Sea thrift on the beach. And bog cotton on the walk home. Beautiful wander with the boys after nursery, and the reminder of just how very lucky we are to have all this on the doorstep. It was a murky morning....but what a beautiful bright evening β˜€οΈπŸŒΏπŸͺ»πŸŒΈπŸšπŸŒŠ

When you ask the magical A Wolf and I if they would consider making you a special piece of jewellery, and they create magic. I put this request in a few weeks ago, with no expectations as to when it would be made, just that it would come when the time was right. Badgers are often associated with persistence, endurance, grounding. So for her to arrive today.....after the last few weeks of stress...it's the little bit of magic I need to remind me that all will be well ❀️ I've been in fight or flight mode for the last week, and so I've been right on the edge of panic. This morning was the prime example - Obi's eye looked a bit half shut, and maybe weepy....so I instantly started to figure out how I'd get him back to the vet after dropping Connor at nursery. I needed talking down a bit, so from a distance hubby managed to stop me from panicking and made me breathe. And sure enough....right now as I type, that eye looks just like it did this time yesterday....better. I'm currently sat on our beach, watching Obi and Connor play, and reminding myself to just stop and breathe πŸ˜‰ and grateful for all the nature visiting us. For the magic. And especially our lovely badger, now immortalised in silver to remind me to endure 🦑❀️

So....an unplanned day away again, but a more positive one this time. We are cautiously optimistic that treatment may be working πŸ™ and actually when I look at this photo I've just taken, I don't think anyone would notice anything with his left eye. I've just spent weeks looking at it, so I can see there is still an ulcer there. But the vet looked at it today and he is happy to leave him a few days and watch and wait. The point of this treatment was to introduce cells from his own body to kick start the healing process. The vet is hopeful that that has been achieved, and we now just have to let his body carry on doing what it does 🀞 any signs of irritation or weeping, and we head straight back to Broadford for another round of serum treatment. While there, my lazy boy also made it on to the scales....he's a big boy...33.4 kilos. So we might try and start an exercise regime, because he doesn't eat that much....he just does the least amount possible 🀣 must be his middle age spread as well 😬 anyway, will start packing a few orders this evening which I can post when I go on the nursery run tomorrow. Then on Wednesday I will get the Fundraiser prizes packed up, as I'm heading to Lochcarron on Thursday morning for the post office. Hopefully be all caught up on orders by Friday. Thank you for your patience ❀️

So lovely people, apologies to those who put in orders last week....I will hopefully manage to get them away over the next couple of days 🀞 had hoped to get things sorted today....but now having to do another run to the vet. When I say run....this is the disadvantage of living rurally....it's about 2 hours each way πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ we finished serum treatment for Obi's eye yesterday, but I rang this morning as it is most definitely improved, and he is currently in no pain....but the ulcer is still there and visible 😞 so they want to review things, and decide if more serum is the way forward, or if we have to start considering other options. I have so many things I need to get to, but quite honestly, I am juggling a little too much at the minute. So sorry, I will get to orders as soon as I can. I'm also waiting to field calls and emails from insurance companies today as the working week starts again, and I have to finish up all that stuff too. Hopefully towards the end of this week things will start to settle down again a bit πŸ™

We're very late tonight....and we're also very excited! A new visitor, and a first ever for Connor. He's said for a while Foxes are his favourite....now he's actually seen one in his garden. Assumed they were about somewhere. And sister-in-law said she'd seen one a mile or so down the road yesterday funnily enough 🦊❀️

Thank you so so much for all your entries and support! πŸ’š we made a phenomenal Β£1330 for Highland Wildlife Rescue. I've loved doing this, and hearing people's stories, anecdotes, or simply hearing of their love of nature, has made it a joy. So much so.....I have plans to make this an annual event πŸ˜‰ Patterns of Light will be back again next May with a Fundraiser for HWR.....so do keep following the page. And heartfelt thanks to you all ❀️
