As part of their Dylan Thomas Day, 24 students from Regensburg University, Germany packed into Dylan's front parlour.

There, they discussed Dylan's poetry with Professor Daniel Williams and were given an introductory talk about Dylan and the birthplace by Geoff Haden before exploring the house.

In the afternoon, they travelled to Rhossili, the destination of two of Dylan's short stories, to learn all about Welsh lovespoons.

DYLAN'S PARK BOOK LAUNCH - Wednesday 27th May 6.30pm for 7pm start

Cwmdonkin Park is just a short walk from this house. It’s where Dylan Thomas played as a child. The same paths, the same trees. A place that stayed with him long after he left. This evening brings that park into the house.

Join us at the Dylan Thomas Birthplace for the launch of Dylan’s Park, a new children’s book by Helen Docherty and Thomas Docherty, created entirely from Dylan’s own words. Set in Cwmdonkin Park, the book follows a boy’s adventure through the place that helped shape his early imagination.

Helen will read from the book here in the parlour, while Thomas brings the story to life with live drawing. After the reading, there will be time to meet them both and have your book signed.

Dylan’s Park offers a different way into Dylan’s world.
For younger readers, it’s a first meeting.
For others, it’s a return.
Either way, it brings his words back to the place where they began - IT'S FOR YOU!

Plus a Discovered at Dylan's performer to be announced

Choose from two ways to enjoy this event:

In Person: A small audience gathered in the parlour, close to the words and the stories. Limited number remaining.

On Zoom: Join us from wherever you are in the world.

Great to host the first day of the Australians Studying Abroad (ASA) literary tour.

A full day started with a visit to the Dylan Thomas Centre from where we retraced part of the route of Dylan's Return Journey.

From the Birthplace Peter Thabit Jones and Julie Anne Grey-Jones took them on a walk around the Uplands and Cwmdonkin Park. Before returning to the Birthplace for a house tour and pre dinner drinks and snacks. All sourced locally including laverbread and cockles on a Gower potato cake, and local beer.

The Return Journey route continued back to their base at Morgans Hotel.
