The Lovespoon Gallery in Mumbles is celebrating 40 years of keeping a Welsh tradition alive 🥄

🥄 The Lovespoon Gallery is marking 40 years since opening its doors in Mumbles, having been founded by Patricia Price to showcase genuine hand carved Welsh lovespoons rather than the mass-produced versions sold elsewhere.

🌍 It's still the only gallery in the world dedicated solely to hand carved Welsh lovespoons, with thousands of pieces sent from the small seafront gallery to homes across the globe over the decades.

🏉 In 2002 the gallery carved a lovespoon measuring around 64cm for the Wales rugby team, which still travels with the squad and is looked after by the youngest player on tour.

💬 The gallery said: "What started as a passion for Welsh heritage has grown into a lifelong commitment to keeping this unique tradition alive for future generations."

This year marks an incredible milestone for The Lovespoon Gallery in Mumbles, Swansea as we celebrate 40 years of preserving and promoting the beautiful tradition of Welsh lovespoon carving.

Since opening our doors in Mumbles in 1986, we have been honoured to share the craftsmanship of Wales’ finest lovespoon carvers with visitors from across the world. What started as a passion for Welsh heritage has grown into a lifelong commitment to keeping this unique tradition alive for future generations.

Over the past four decades, thousands of hand-carved lovespoons have travelled from our small gallery by the sea to homes around the globe, carrying with them stories of love, friendship, family and Welsh culture.

We would like to thank our talented craftsmen, loyal customers, local community and visitors from near and far who have supported us throughout this remarkable journey.

Here’s to 40 years of heritage, craftsmanship and tradition—and to ensuring the story of the Welsh lovespoon continues for generations to come.
