We purchased Shemaron in 2008, what started as a gentle hobby turned into a major project, with things like this you can't stop once you have started, despite huge costs in money and time. We don't know what the future will hold but Shemaron is an important vessel and we won't be giving up just yet. Built in 1949 for the Sloan brothers of Maidens as the Wistaria, she was famous and very successfu

l in her time. In 1964 she was sold to the Galbraith family and re named Shemaron, she continued with the ring net for a time before being converted to a scallop dredger. Shemaron ceased fishing in 2006 after a successful 55 year career. In June 2015 we were successful in our application for charitable status. Shemaron will now be looked after by the Ring Net Heritage Trust.
