As seen in the ✨

Our collaboration with brings together two historic British ceramic houses in a collection that’s as timeless as it is striking. Inspired by Burleigh’s iconic 1968 Calico pattern, each hand-moulded tile transforms the intricate floral motif into a richly textured surface with depth, movement, and light-catching detail.

Finished with a translucent, stained-glass-style glaze and handcrafted in the UK using traditional cast and pressed clay techniques, every tile is a celebration of British craftsmanship and modern interiors alike.

Perfect for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, these tiles bring character, artistry, and enduring elegance to any space.

In 2025, student joined us in the factory to hone skills in the art of mosaic and encaustic manufacturing. This week, her hard work was officially unveiled at hospital 🏥
Ruby is pictured here with our Floor Tile and R&D Production Manager, Chris Cox, alongside the talented team from Gary, Guy, and Pawel, who brought the installation to life in the old portico.
The mosaic will soon be joined by furniture, metalwork, and stained glass created by fellow students to celebrate the completion of their Building Arts Programme.

As one of only a handful of traditional encaustic manufacturers remaining, it’s more important now than ever to ensure these heritage skills are preserved for the future ⚒️ 🎨

🏆 We were extremely proud to see several projects we’ve been involved with recognised at this year’s ceremony. It is an honor to contribute to the preservation of such iconic buildings.
Two projects that received awards were:
🏛️ Palace of Westminster
The restoration of the stunning encaustic tile pavements received a Highly Commended AABC Conservation Award. This recognition is given to projects demonstrating the absolute highest standards of building conservation.
💧 Withington Baths
A winner in the same category. We were proud to supply the glazed wall tiles, meticulously matched to the originals to bring this historic space back to life.
Founded in 1959, the Civic Trust Awards are the longest-standing architectural awards in Europe. They celebrate buildings and honour projects that deliver sustainability, accessibility, and a positive impact on their local communities.
Huge congratulations to all the teams involved! 🥂

From concept to creation 🖌️

Every project starts with an idea… but at Jackfield, it becomes something truly one of a kind.

Working closely with clients, each design is developed from initial concept through to final installation, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to bring even the most complex visions to life.

From hand-carved moulds and precise slip casting, to expert 3D scanning and colour-matching, detailed glazing and firing, every step of the process is carefully considered to ensure a flawless finish.

Whether it’s a heritage restoration, a large-scale commercial project, a residential upgrade, or a completely bespoke design, no two projects are ever the same.

Crafted with care. Designed to last. Built to tell a story.

Women have played a huge role in the ceramics industry since its beginnings. 🏺

Often valued for their nimble fingers and attention to detail, thousands of women worked in the factories that produced the decorative wares Britain became famous for. Many were skilled “paintresses,” carefully hand-painting patterns, applying gold decoration, or placing transfer-printed designs onto pottery and tiles. Their steady hands and precision were essential to the final look of each piece.

Women also worked across production — preparing clay, glazing, finishing, and packing ceramics that were shipped around the world.

Today, we’re proud to continue this tradition. Over half of our workforce at our Jackfield and Stoke factories are women.

Here are a few images of the team in action.

Celebrating ♀️
Women in Property has spent over 30 years creating opportunities, expanding knowledge, and inspiring women across the property and construction industry. As a networking and professional development organisation, it continues to play an important role in supporting women across the sector. We welcomed representatives from and for a factory tour and tile decorating experience.
The visit offered a chance to explore the rich history of ceramics in the Ironbridge Gorge, and to reflect on the important role women have played from the Jackfield factory floor in the 1850s through to the site management team today.
It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and celebrate the impact of women across property, construction, and manufacturing with beautiful tiles due out of the Kiln soon!
