The speaker for our talk on Thursday 7th May will be Dr Mike Jenkins who is new to the group but who comes highly recommended. The subject of his presentation is ‘Voices from the Past’ - The History of Place names in England’ taken taken from his book and with special emphasis on those local to Tenbury Wells and other interesting local names such as Clee Hill, Lindridge. Rochford, Stoke Bliss and Pensax to name a few. Dr Jenkins will question ... Who were the folks who created your local names? What are they calling out over the centuries and how can place names tell us about their lives?
As usual there will be refreshments from 7:00pm with the talk at 7:30pm. So do come early to choose your seat, they can sometimes be at a premium !

Tenbury Wells Museum and History Group are delighted to announce that the new 2026 programme of History Talks will begin again on Thursday 5th March with a ‘new to the group speaker’ - Howard Robinson – who will be telling his audience all about ‘The History of Salt’ – its structure, history and uses as well as its dangers.’

As well as being an accomplished speaker on many subjects, Howard was Head of Biology at two Worcestershire schools for 40 years where his specialist subject was salt in the human body. Now retired, Howard lives near Droitwich, which has links to the extraction and production of salt dating back to the Romans. The talk, which will be held in the Pump Rooms.
There will then be refreshments from 7:00pm with the talk beginning at 7:30pm

Why not come along to our latest talk tomorrow where will entertain us as Gordon of Khartoum! This promises to be a wonderful evening and a great way to spend a cold November night .As usual it will be held in the Pump Rooms so
PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY TO ENSURE A SEAT.
Refreshments will be served from 7:00pm, with the talk commencing at 7:30pm. How about two seats - one for a friend to introduce them to the talks ?
