Totnes Museum is taking part in Heritage Open Days starting on September 11th. We'll be open from 10.30 to 4.00 on Friday 11th, Saturday 12th, Tuesday 15th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th. A new display about local authors both well known and less well known from previous centuries, will be unveiled on Friday 11th.
There will also be talks and events throughout the festival. Sam Richards will be speaking about his father the writer Allen Saddler at 2.00pm on Saturday 12th. Tuesday 15th author Alison Huntingford will be visiting the Museum in the morning and in the afternoon Harula Ladd will be creating three minute poems on her vintage electric typewriter. On Friday 18th at 2.00pm local writer Bob Mann will be speaking about 20th and 21st century Totnes writers. And as HOD is being sponsored by Find My Past there will also be opportunities to start researching your own family tree.

The Museum will be open on Friday 19th September from 10.30am - 4pm and also on Saturday 20th September from 11am to 3pm. Come and have a look at the display of photos of the building before it was a Museum and of the late 1950s early 1960s restoration. There are also photos of the work being done now to maintain this lovely building. It's worth a look.

We're having some building work done at the museum - unsuitable, cement based render is being removed and will be replaced with lime plaster. Because of this we will be closed on Tuesday September 9th - but we'll be open on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th for the start of Heritage Open Days. Come and see what's going on!

The Museum will be open this Saturday, August 23rd, from 11am until 3pm. Come along and have look inside the only 16th century merchant's house in Totnes where three floors of rooms are open to visitors. It's a hidden gem!

Totnes Museum is delighted to be part of the Totnes Fringe Festival. We'll be open on Friday July 11th 10.30 until 5.00pm and on Saturday 12th from 11am to 4.00pm. Come and see the free performances in the Museum! There will be two showings of "It's Only Me Boys" on Friday 11th July at 2 and 4 pm and two showings of "Elizabeth and Essex: A Romantic Tragedy in Words and Music" on Saturday 12th July - 12 noon and 3.00pm. And there's also the Museum to explore!

Our next Saturday opening will be June 21st from 11.00 until 3.00pm. Come along and see inside the only 16th century Merchant's house in Totnes that's open to the public. There's so much to see!

The Museum is run entirely by volunteers, gets no funding other than donations and is free to enter. We're also open on Tuesdays and Fridays 10.30 -4.00.
