We are proud to present our new exhibition with artist Joe Armstrong. The exhibition is now open 10am-4pm, weekends until 30th April.
This weekend, there is the opportunity for you to meet him and discuss his work and make purchases. Joe is really looking forward to engaging with the community.
Joe says: “My early inspiration came from Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso and Hockney. They all had life in their paintings that spoke to me. I’ve developed my own unique style of painting with both a V palette knife and my fingers. Which stops me from getting too detailed. This keeps the work more expressive and slightly abstract. I often deliver art demos and workshops at the many art groups around the county. Students seem to enjoy learning how I create my work. It looks simple, but it’s actually quite difficult to achieve the feeling of spontaneity in my work. It takes a lot of confidence. I work from home in my 20ft x 10ft studio… which is ideal. I can work in there most mornings till lunchtime. Then I have the rest of the day to swim in the sea, walk or cycle with my dear wife Annie, play my guitar or ride my old 1958 Triumph motorbike. That’s where I am to date. Constantly trying to improve my style… often experimenting, sometimes failing, other times producing work that in my eyes is evolving. I love painting and it’s a joy when someone falls in love with a painting and is prepared to pay for it”.
For those visiting the gallery for the first time, it is positioned within the Truro School grounds, with plenty of on-site parking or a short walk from the town centre and public transport links.
