We are delighted to introduce a new open edition print of Roger Dean’s Freyja’s Castle — a deeply personal and historically significant work painted on 16th September 1987.
The painting takes its name from Roger’s daughter Freyja, who was born on the very same day. Reflecting on the artwork, Roger recalls:
“I was waiting to be called to the hospital as I finished it.”
Originally created for Henk Rogers — the visionary game publisher later known worldwide for securing the rights to Tetris — the artwork was used for the game Super Black Onyx. Decades later, Henk Rogers’ remarkable story reached a new audience through the recent film Tetris, starring Taron Egerton.
With its dreamlike blue architecture, dramatic landscape and unmistakable atmosphere, Freyja’s Castle captures Roger Dean’s ability to blend fantasy, storytelling and emotion into a single image.
This new open edition print is produced on beautiful 155 lb (330 gsm) Somerset Velvet paper, with a paper size of 23.4” x 16.5” (A2) and an approximate image size of 21” x 14”.
Available now from the Roger Dean Gallery at Trading Boundaries — the UK home of Roger Dean’s art.
