Introducing our café’s new summer menu 👀

Produced in-house by our fantastic team of chefs, our food celebrates British seasonal ingredients and produce through sustainable menus.

Our seasonal highlight this month is Wye Valley Asparagus, grown by the fourth-generation Chinn family on their farm near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire and prized by chefs for its tender spears and unbeatable freshness. We pair it with our brown butter hollandaise, kale potato cakes, poached eggs and lemon-dressed watercress.

Are you a teacher looking for accessible and creative ways to introduce textiles into the classroom?

Taking inspiration from our current exhibition, Mrinalini Mukherjee: Unbound Forms - Women Sculptors of India and Bangladesh, June’s Teacher CPD session focuses on transforming textile materials into soft sculptural forms through cutting, wrapping and manipulating with wire.

Facilitated by artist Harriet Fletcher, the free session will explore accessible and creative ways to introduce textiles into the classroom and how to adapt these ideas for a range of ages and settings.

Looking for a family day out this half-term?

Transform yourself into a sculpture at our Hepworth Hats workshop! Taking inspiration from Barbara Hepworth’s work, make a wearable sculpture from colourful card and string. Bend and twist your shapes, then thread them with string to create 3D forms.

Enjoy the sunshine in our last garden play sessions before they take a break until July. Stack, build, experiment, draw and imagine with your family in the open air. During this free session, you can take inspiration from the garden’s artworks and plants, the weather and buildings around you.

Make a day of it by cooling off with an ice cream in our café afterwards, then head off to explore our art trails, and experiment with our art pods and play resources in the gallery.

As part of our family offer, non-Wakefield residents can also get 50% off a standard adult ticket when visiting with a child during the Wakefield school holidays. This offer is for one discounted adult ticket per child, use code FAMILY50 when booking online or in person.
