Our next Young Masters workshop will give your aspiring young artists the chance to explore leaf printing and create their own tote bag to take home.

📣The New Art Gallery runs weekly Sunday Art Club for children and young people offering a fantastic space to meet artists and creatives while learning how to paint, print, sculpt, craft, and more.

🖍️ 🎨If you are looking for creative activities to get your littles ones involved in, come along to our Sunday Art Clubs.

Visit Time: 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Age range: Ages 4+, Free, drop-in.

Sunday 11 October: Felt Fancies – Make your own soft toy treat, with this simple sewing workshop (glueing and plastic needle options available).

Sunday 18 October: Autumn Colour – Create a beautiful watercolour painting inspired by the colours of autumn leaves.

Sunday 25 October: Self Image – Draw a self-portrait in pencil then add flamboyant and colourful accessories with collaged materials.

CELEBRATE! Next month, Fantastic Journeys' return with multi-sensory music sessions for children with Additional Needs

Date: Saturday 10 October
Join Nicola and Maisie from Fantastic Journeys in a session inspired by the exhibition Mothers without Hands in the Community Gallery. This session will be a vibrant celebration of life, exploring colourful fabrics with the chance to dress up and create music together. There will be opportunities for singing, dancing, playing and music making. Expect instruments, multisensory props, tactile items and more.

A lively session suitable will be offered for most children with additional needs 12pm - 1pm and then a quieter session for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and/or complex support needs 2-3pm.

Join the artist for a day-long workshop.
£25.

Begin with an exclusive tour of Tereza’s exhibition Mothers without Hands in the Community Gallery, then explore the concept of amulets of protection and the chatelaine.

This was a historical, wearable, fashionable garment, dating back to medieval Europe that was both a status symbol and a utilitarian necessity for women, long before women’s clothes featured pockets. Under the expert guidance of the artist, participants will create wearable garments incorporating Tereza’s ready-made bread amulets and participants’ personal objects, found in their handbags.

Refreshments and materials provided.

This workshop is for adults aged 18 and over.

Autumn is packed with creativity at The New Art Gallery Walsall! 🍂🎨 From our weekly Sunday Art Club and incredible new exhibitions by Charmaine Watkiss and Tereza Bušková, to exciting half-term workshops for kids and families.

We also have a packed schedule of free and low-cost creative activities for families and children to enjoy.

🔉NEW EXHIBITION: Charmaine Watkiss, The things we hold sacred

OPENING TONIGHT: Friday 2 October, 6-8PM

Join us tonight for a preview of our major new exhibition by acclaimed British artist whose practice explores the botanical legacy of the Caribbean, in particular healing traditions handed down through the maternal line through oral culture and taught experience. With her new exhibition spotlights the spiritual and mystical nature of plants, specifically the sacred rituals, traditions and symbolic practices associated with individual plants and herbs.
