We just wanted to say a huge thank you to the Warrington branch of Skipton Building Society who have donated ยฃ150 worth of crafts supplies to Warrington Museum ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

It followed a chance conversation when we found out they have a small budget for supporting local charitable organisations.

The next thing we know Adrian from Skipton popped round with two bags worth of supplies for Crafternoons, holiday crafts and Whimsical Wednesdays ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐ŸŽจ

We're ever so grateful to everyone at the building society in Bridge Street, and Adrian has even said he'll be back with his family to try some of our crafts out for himself!

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ NEW EXHIBITION ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

Introducing Six Objects in Search of an Artist. We're shedding light on some of the hidden gems from our collections, while celebrating the talents of a north west creative ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿค

We invited Michelle Leigh to explore Warrington Museum's many artefacts from all over the world as part of a project to reinterpret them through a series of paintings in her distinct style.

Launching this Saturday, this show is the result ๐Ÿคฉ

Michelle found inspiration from everything from a fragment of Egyptian coffin wood to a model of a tuna fish made out of recycled beer cans to dresses designed by Warrington-born legendary 1960s fashion designer Ossie Clark.

โ€œI was fired up by this eclectic collection and the poetic licence I was given to reinterpret them," she added.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Free to view until 1 November.

Did you know this year marks a century since the General Strike? ๐Ÿ‘ทโ›๏ธ๐Ÿšซ

For nine days, in May 1926, millions of people across Britain stopped work in one of the most dramatic moments in the history of the labour movement.

They downed tools in solidarity with miners who were facing heavy wage cuts and increased hours in a moment that continues to resonate in terms of workersโ€™ rights, industrial relations and the role of the state โœŠ

To mark the occasion, Carol Mayo has delved into our Archives to explore the little known story of how the General Strike impacted Warrington.
