NOW OPEN!

For the first time, visitors can explore the lives of the earliest Brethren of the Lord Leycester in our brand-new exhibition, The Brethren of the Lord Leycester.

Located within the Guildhall – the very room the first Brethren called home when the community was founded in 1571 – the exhibition draws on years of research to uncover the stories of the men who lived here, the challenges they faced, and the community they helped build.

Featuring materials from the Warwickshire County Record Office, the exhibition explores what we know about the early Brethren, what still remains a mystery, and how life at the Lord Leycester has evolved across more than 450 years.

This exhibition has been developed in partnership with the University of Warwick, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Naomi Pullin, PhD researcher Angus Crawford, and the wider project team for their hard work, expertise, and continued support of the Lord Leycester. Their research has helped shine a light on stories that have too often remained hidden from view.

We are incredibly grateful for their interest in the Lord Leycester and for helping us share the lives of the Brethren with visitors in a completely new way.

Come and discover the people behind one of Warwick's most remarkable historic communities.

Tomorrow, visitors will be able to explore the lives of the earliest Brethren of the Lord Leycester in a brand-new exhibition developed in partnership with the University of Warwick.

Today, our team has been busy installing the exhibition within the Guildhall - a particularly fitting location, as it was the very first room the early Brethren called home when Robert Dudley's community was founded in 1571.

Featuring documents and materials on loan from the Warwickshire County Record Office, the exhibition explores the lives of the men who lived here, what we know about their experiences, the questions that still remain unanswered, and how life at the Lord Leycester has changed - and remained remarkably consistent over - more than four and a half centuries.

This is the first time many of these stories have been brought together and presented in this way, offering a fascinating insight into the people at the heart of the Lord Leycester's history.

The exhibit is opening tomorrow and access is free with general admission.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Naomi Pullin and PhD researcher Angus Crawford from the University of Warwick to the Lord Leycester today.

Ahead of the opening of our new exhibition, *The Brethren of the Lord Leycester*, they delivered a fascinating talk for our volunteers exploring the lives of the early Brethren between 1571 and 1700.

Together, they discussed what we know about the men who first called the Lord Leycester home, what still remains a mystery, how their experiences differed from those of today's Brethren, and the remarkable traditions that have endured across more than four centuries.

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us share the stories of the Lord Leycester with visitors, so opportunities like these are invaluable in deepening our understanding of the people at the heart of our history.

A huge thank you to Naomi and Angus for sharing their research and expertise with us.

The exhibition opens to the public tomorrow and is included with general admission.

It's officially and we'd like to say a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who help make the Lord Leycester what it is.

Whether they're welcoming visitors, leading tours, researching our history, caring for our collections, supporting events, helping in the gardens, or sharing stories with guests from around the world, our volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year to keeping the Lord Leycester running.

Many of the people visitors meet during their visit are volunteers, generously giving their time, knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to help bring over 600 years of history to life.

Throughout this week, we'll be introducing some of the amazing individuals and teams who help make the Lord Leycester such a special place.

Interested in joining them? We'd love to hear from you.

As half term comes to a close, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to visit the Lord Leycester this week.

It has been wonderful welcoming so many families through our gates, seeing everyone enjoy our free half term activities, and watching our giant chalk garden fill with colourful creations and imagination.

We were also delighted by the response to our brand-new Garden Tours. It has been fantastic to hear such positive feedback and to share the history, restoration, and hidden stories of the Master's Garden with so many visitors. With such an enthusiastic reception, who knows... perhaps the Garden Tours will make a return later this summer... 🌿

But while half term may be ending, things certainly aren't slowing down at the Lord Leycester.

Tomorrow, we begin installing our brand-new exhibition, developed in partnership with the University of Warwick, exploring the lives of the Brethren who have called the Lord Leycester home across the centuries. The exhibition opens to visitors on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will host only our third ever public Brethren's Prayers, offering a rare opportunity to observe one of the Lord Leycester's longest-standing living traditions before the site opens to the public.

Later this month, we're also looking forward to welcoming Divertimento back to the Great Hall for their summer concert, alongside Amanda Dean's Summer Dried Flower Wreath Workshop.

There's plenty more to come, so make sure you're following the Lord Leycester on social media to keep up to date with all our latest events, exhibitions, tours, and behind-the-scenes stories.

We can't wait to welcome you back soon!

Did you know that the Brethren of the Lord Leycester still gather for prayers in our 900 year old Chapel?

For centuries, this daily tradition has remained part of life at the Lord Leycester since 1571, connecting today's resident community with generations of Brethren who came before them.

This Wednesday, visitors are invited to quietly observe Brethren's Prayers and experience a rarely-seen part of daily life within our historic community.

Wednesday 3rd June
Prayers begin at 9:30am
Please be seated by 9:25am

The event is free to attend, and tea and coffee will be available afterwards in the Cafe. We look forward to seeing you!
