Happy Birthday today to 95 year old Mrs Sykes who has generously donated to the museum a splendid ‘therapy’ embroidery done by her uncle when he was hospitalised during WW1. It is remarkable to meet someone just one generation removed from the soldiers of the Great War and we wish Mrs Sykes many happy returns of the day!

Happy Winnie the Pooh Day! 100 years ago today ‘Winnie the Pooh’ was first published. Did you know its author Alan Alexander Milne was a Signals Officer in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment during WW1. To mark the anniversary we will be exploring Milne’s time in the regiment this half term with some great Winnie the Pooh related family activities, all for FREE. Listen out for us BBC Coventry & Warwickshire around 11:00ish today on the Vic Minett show.

The General Manager and a former museum volunteer were at the AMOT conference in London Yesterday. AMOT stands for Army Museums Ogilby Trust and is an organisation that supports Regimental Museums through advocacy, training and grants. The conference was full of great ideas how regimental museums can reach out and work with communities to explore stories about the soldiers of the regiment in a way that is both relevant and engaging. There are already many who have shared their amazing family stories with us and we want to do more to capture and celebrate soldiers’s stories in 2027. Stay tune for more on this!

Today we remember those Fusiliers who fell during Operation Herrick, serving in Afghanistan. As well as displays the museum has a book of remembrance for fallen Fusiliers.
