TOMORROW Sunday 6th.
More about our Antique and bric a brac sale.
During the course of the year we are donated Antiques and Bric a Brac specifically to be sold, not to be added to our collection. We accumulate it, selling some through our sales cabinet in the Museum and the remainder is used once a year at the Watton Antiques event. We know nothing about Antiques so we use e-bay to establish what items actually sell for, not what is asked for them, and price accordingly, always less. This year we also have a collection of Mantle Clocks that we are selling on behalf of a local couple, we know nothing about them so, sold as seen.
The street fair has been cancelled but we will be open from 8.30 to 3pm with masses of ‘stuff’ for sale, the Coffee bar will be open free and, while stocks last, free Cheese scones and cakes. Come and have a browse, its under cover and dry and warm.

Our first book launch of 2025 will be at Museum For Watton on 1 February, at 12.00 where Andy Reid will be launching his new book on the town of Watton with a short talk.
The people who lived and worked in Watton showed ambition and enterprise, competed with each other and inter-married. All too often, they over-reached and became bankrupt. But they were also a community, who made decisions and celebrated together and, for the most part, looked out for each other. They were patriotic and showed deference to their rulers but sometimes embraced radical ideas. Women featured strongly in the public life of the town; widows, in particular, often played a key part in its economic and social activities. And throughout its history, people have moved into and out of Watton, connecting it to the county, the country and the world.

Watton became a market town in the early 13th century and ever since then it has served as the centre for the surrounding district. This book tells the stories of the men and women who made it what it is: the tradesmen and shopkeepers, businessmen and publicans, yeomen and husbandmen, lawyers and clergymen, craftsmen and labourers, schoolteachers and doctors.
