You asked so we responded! We now have a variety of Art Supplies and Art Kits available for you all to buy and enjoy. We only sell what we can wholeheartedly recommend and have experience with using because we feel it is unfair to offer products that will hinder your enjoyment of art. So we do not stock inadequate products that can be cheaply obtained but irritating to work with. With the range we have carefully selected you will be able to create artworks you can feel proud of and there is something available for every budget. We use these products in our workshops so for those of you who have attended our workshops you will be familiar with their quality and ease of use. And if you’re just starting out then it’s important that you begin with supplies that work as they are intended. We also have our own carefully curated ‘Straight-to-Paint’ kits that we’re adding to all the time to enable you to enjoy painting without any of the bother of drawing or planning. You just add water and paint. It is our aim to bring you all you need to enjoy creating artworks, not to baffle you with science or sell you unnecessary extras. Introducing my new ‘Straight-to-Paint’ kits! I frequently get told that the single biggest obstacle for people wanting to paint is the lack of confidence with the drawing part. That if they didn’t have the stress of drawing, it would be a lot more fun to paint. I am also told frequently that knowing which paper, brushes, paint to use is another barrier. I’m down to the final couple of places left on our June 30th starting session. If you want to claim one of these you’ll need to call us 01732 600400 asap to book on. Once these last couple of places are gone we’ll be operating a waiting list, so we’ll only be able to book you on in the event that someone cancels their place.

We’ve been busy preparing the craft options for the June/July sessions and I cannot wait to do them now! They’re so pretty and so much fun to do!

I was invited back to Malling Art Group for another teaching day. Our subject? This R**e Seed Field in Horsmonden. I selected this particular reference because I loved the inclusion of Kentish Oast houses, the sun drenched old church, the thick lustrous R**e crop, and the great opportunity to paint depth of field using a combination of wet-on-wet and wet on dry for either softness or sharp detail. It is this combination that gives the dimensional lustre of the flowering R**e and the gorgeous distance to the far off trees. Lots of fun techniques to explore and practice in the subject which makes it great for the combined abilities in a art group class. And the resulting artworks were absolutely stunning! Thank you for having me Malling Art Group! I hope you all enjoyed your day! For those that wish to know I painted on block - 300gms rough using a combination of , brushes and Frisk masking fluid.

We have been asked numerous times over the past few years if we’ll set up a social craft group for locals, and whilst we always thought it was a great idea it was hard to make it work around our existing business commitments. But for the first time we have the opportunity to try it. At this stage we’re wanting to register interest and see if there are enough people wanting to come along regularly to craft and chat, but if you’re one of the dozens that have asked us and pop your head in weekly to see what classes we have coming up, now is your chance to join! So if you’d like to come along or bring a friend you will need to book your place! We only have limited spaces (how many can we squeeze around our table?!) and once they’re filled we’ll go ahead with the first few dates and see what happens. But the plan is that we start from Tuesday 30th June 10am - 12noon and will aim for a weekly meet after that. Great opportunity to hang out with friends and meet new ones! And everyone takes home a completed craft and perhaps learns new skills (as well as a belly full of tea and cake!) from each session. A wee little mention of our lovely gallery in this vlog, but wanted to share it so that our followers far and wide can see the lovely little town we’re situated in and all the hidden gems we have all around us!

Currently we’re exhibiting “The Wonderful World of Graham Clarke” the immensely talented print artist and humorist (which is so unbelievably exciting!). And when you come to visit us to enjoy the exhibition, not only will you find a warm welcome at The Drawing Rooms, you will also find an abundance of lovely pubs such as our neighbours The Malling Jug and Five Pointed Star, an abundance of fine dining and cafe’s such as The Swan, St Leonard's, and great independent shops such Dressed by dee Ltd or Chocolate Umbrella and Coco & Bloom, all of which can be seen in this vlog by Jack Miller.
