All it takes is one f***wit with a catapult these days. The government won't ban the use of catapults because some anglers use them to catapult food onto the surface of water, where they're fishing. Not a good enough reason in my book.

Susie and her statue have been picked up by whisker theory!

Kind strangers in Dorchester, in Dorset, kept finding a cat out alone and calling to say she was lost. She was not. Her name is Susie, and she wanders the town on her own.

So her owners, Linda and Michael, changed the words on her tag. It now reads: Susie, not lost, just adventurous.

Susie took her tag at its word. Locals often spot her inside shops and businesses all across town. Thousands follow her adventures online, and visitors come to Dorchester hoping to see her.

She has also gone into print. Her children's book, postcards and calendar have raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Now the town is giving her a bronze. Councillors unanimously approved a statue of Susie for South Street, outside a charity shop, and an admirer is paying for it. A Roman tile was cast alongside the bronze, and the unveiling is scheduled for late November.

There is a debate on this issue in parliament on the 26th and it is not too late to write to your MP to ask them to attend the debate. There is no vote at the end of the debate, but this is the beginning process of changing the law to require drivers to report when they've hit a cat.

This group is working hard to stop hit‑and‑runs and keep cats in drivers’ minds. Their site has great advice for owners and for anyone who might hit or find a cat on the road.

I've been banking on Susie faces, which is why I've been making so many of them, although they will be a limited edition. The painting of them is getting better with each one, but they take ages to make. I started making the faces thinking that they would be less work than the full Susie, but actually its turned out to be the other way around! Ho-Hum, that's the way it goes in ceramics!
