At the Whimple Heritage Centre we have an extensive collection of photographs, advertising material and other documents relating to Whiteway’s Cyder, much of it donated by the Whiteway family. We have embarked upon the enormous task of cataloguing and digitising it to create a complete record of the collection. This will make it more accessible for researchers and when creating new Heritage Centre displays. As part of this process, we have wanted to purchase archival quality storage and packaging materials, as unsuitable storage materials can give off gases causing fading, discolouration, and eventual disintegration, and folding weakens paper causing pieces to break off.
We are therefore extremely grateful to the committee of Whimple Fest 2026 for their donation of £500 which has enabled us to buy a quantity of acid free archival binder boxes, a newspaper storage box, file pockets, and file dividers. This will help to guarantee the preservation of the Whiteway collection for the people of Whimple well into the future.
