Here we have Lipton Supermarket, which was the main supermarket on King Street. Anyone remember other familiar stores such as Donaldson's, Barlows, Skinners and Burnyeats.

Join Paul Johnston and the team on Saturday’s show where we’ll be stepping back into the 1990s as part of The Beacon’s fantastic “I Grew Up 90s” exhibition and the brand-new “Whitehaven in the 90s” pop-up event.

We’ll relive the music, memories and moments that made the decade unforgettable and Paul will be sharing memories of his time in the 90s DJing in Whitehavens biggest clubs, The Whitehouse & The Park.

🌟 National Volunteer Week 🌟

For the final day of Volunteer Week, we're celebrating the volunteers who help create our monthly pop-up history events.

From researching local stories and selecting images to designing displays and welcoming visitors, their dedication helps bring Whitehaven's history to life. These events spark conversations, share memories, and connect our community with its heritage.

We're excited for our Whitehaven Rewind - The 90s Pop-Up History Event next weekend (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June), where visitors can explore photographs, memories, and stories from a memorable decade in the town's history.

As Volunteer Week comes to a close, we'd like to thank all our volunteers for their time, enthusiasm, and hard work throughout the year. The Beacon Museum simply couldn't do what it does without you. 💙
