So inspiring to see how families move through this creative experience together, balancing spontaneity and thoughtfulness in their design decisions.

Am so pleased to see this studio experience grow…
Michael (the lead on this project) is now offering a special spring holiday sale on family sessions for the Easter break.
I am about to add some dates for additional family slots…

What a lovely way to spend a spring day - a family came in with a clear vision of building a family mandala.
Having witnessed Tibetan monks creating a sand mandala at the Tibet Foundation in London decades ago, where I met the Dalai Lama who said a prayer at the end of their creating, it is amazing to see the past and present merge.
For decades, during a summer term activity session, I worked with year 7s to design their own digital mandala, having explored the construction through the lenses of faith, science, maths, and art.

These seeds I have planted along the way offer glimpses of beauty in my life.

So, been developing further opportunities for creative community engagement … gratitude to https://www.artfulmoments.co.uk/ for developing this space and organising resources so that I can work with adults, young people and children utilising a range of techniques to build colourful, expressive layers on canvas (and walls in a ‘splatter booth’)

It is heart-filling to witness the relationships between past and present.

In 2009 I travelled to Ethiopia (funded by the British Council) with a fellow teaching colleague and a doctor/midwife team.

We travelled to the north, near the Eritrean border, visiting health clinics in rural areas.
This was almost two decades after the terrible Ethiopian famine (and Live Aid).

I took this photo, and showed it at an exhibition at the Pie Factory in 2019. I named it ‘Hope’.

In this region, it was moving to see the efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality. The green bucket is used to weigh and monitor babies’ progress… and in this clinic they ensured little ones received life-saving vaccinations.

The sense of hope was tangible… that children would grow into adults, unlike the previous generation that saw so many die.

I am thinking of Lemn Sissay, and his session at ‘Where the Light Begins ‘ tomorrow in. Dartford.
As I facilitate creative workshops all day, I will be holding this concept of hope in my heart.

I would love you to share your ideas about our human experiences of ‘hope’ - this will feed into my upcoming workshops a...
