Delighted to announce that Mandy Malone, owner of the Barbers Room on Green Lane in Wickersley has offered me some space on the upstairs landing outside her salon to display some of my vibrant abstract acrylics.

Three canvases have been selected that fit in with the existing colour scheme and both of us agreeing that they look somewhat awesome. Mandy said, “I have been aware of Pete’s exceptional work for a while now so was happy to offer some space for a display when he asked me. It’s certainly brightened up the entrance, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to other businesses”.

Pete is currently exhibiting at regional galleries as well as being accepted for numerous virtual exhibitions on the web with successes as far apart as London and the States.

These three exhibits are for sale at a special local promotion price of £40 so why not pop in and have a look. This amounts to a two-thirds reduction on the gallery price shown on the web site. Email Pete on [email protected] or text him on 07732 300686.

My ‘Exhilaration’ just accepted for the Abstract Exhibition at the Fronteer Gallery in Sheffield at the end of this month Oct 27 - Nov 12. That warranted another coat of varnish today as you do before I deliver it in next week.

"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." ~ Edgar Degas"

What a cracking quote recently featured on the Fusion Art website. Totally relates to my thoughts for Random Acrylics don't you think.

What can you see here remembering there was no intention to paint whatever you see. It's just how the paint formed on the canvas from my emotions and energy at the time. Be entranced by a Random!

Another successful submission into a virtual exhibition for Mythical Land. It successfully navigated not one, but two reviews by the selection panel before being accepted for the exhibition.

No35 Gallery based in London received in the region of 500 entries from 60 countries for their ‘Abstract’ exhibition.

Unfortunately couldn’t make the private viewing of the Fronteer Gallery Summer Exhibition last weekend. Thanks to the guys there for their summary shots of the art works with my ‘Leafy Glade’ third along from the left on the top row. Pop into Orchard Square, Sheffield for the next two weeks if you’re in the area.

Pleased to launch 'Facial Recognition’ as part of the 'Monochrome' Collection. Only the second black and white to be attempted, but look closely and you’ll see numerous faces peering back at you. What eventually gets revealed from just two colours is what makes random abstracts really special. At no time did I decide to incorporate faces into the finished product.

The white canvas was treated with various techniques that brought into play the black paint. A used cardboard tube impregnated with string created the lines on the base before the end of the tube created circular shapes, some with distortion by swiping the tube across the canvas.

A plastic card created vertical lines then smeared blocks to the left and right. A spatula followed to create smeared shapes and to enhance the edge of the canvas. Finally, white was poured down the canvas and texture created using a comb.

Only then did it reveal several faces such as a dolls, caricatures, comical, ghostly, historical and more besides. I see something different every time I look at it and so will you.

Thanks for looking.
