Over the next 2 weeks we will be welcoming more than 900 pupils to the Museum from across Wisbech as part of the annual Wisbech Reads Literacy Festival.

As a result, our main galleries will be busier than usual and access to our temporary gallery space will be restricted until after 2pm for general visitors.

We were delighted to support this project, with our Learning Officer joining the NIE team and Cambridge Archaeological Unit in visiting schools across Fenland to share objects from the Museum collection.
We can’t wait to see this show on Wednesday evening at Wisbech Castle. Free tickets are available if you’d like to see it too! Visit the NIE page for more details.

May half term is just around the corner and we’ve got 2 great events on offer for families.

On Thursday 28 May we will be making miniature worlds inside tiny boxes inspired by a 1940s ‘Kitchen in a Matchbox.’ Pre-booking is essential for this activity as spaces are limited.

Then, on Friday 29 May we have a drop-in event where families can explore a little of the history of Norfolk Street, with nostalgic sweets to taste, and games to play. No pre-booking is required for this event.
