Allister’s mum passed away a year ago to this day. This piece Why? whyah, Wire “ inspired by the experience of coping with Asphasia is now on display

Why? Whyah, Wire,” were the broken speech bubbles I learned to interpret after mum had her stroke. Through expressions, gestures and her tone we would decipher their meaning. Despite suffering with Aphasia I appreciated her ability to create these sounds no matter how irregular, disordered and chaotic. I developed a magic appreciation for each sound. I hoped these precious moments would continue for years. From quiet whispers, to shouts, through tears of joy and laughter this piece conjures fond memories.
