As the heatwaves have passed and we move towards September, the Friends of the Worcestershire Yeomanry are looking for articles and photographs for the Autumn Pear Blossom. This very good newsletter comes out 4 times a year, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

Today in 1915 our brave Yeomen went on active service in Gallipoli. After training in Norfolk, and being based in Egypt since April 1915, the Worcestershire Yeomanry sailed to Sulva Bay and began a posting as Infantry! This venture was an unhappy one. Horses were left in Egypt, and they had to fit and learn to use Infantry equipment. Many still wore their spurs to ensure everyone knew who they were.

A great picture of the 53rd (Worcestershire Yeomanry) Airlanding Light Regiment RA in Normandy in 1944. They are wearing standard 40 Pattern Battledress, however, two Gunners are wearing their Airborne, Denison Smocks.
