Volunteering makes a massive impact for our visitors, museum sites and outdoor spaces as well as for the volunteers themselves.

A family member of a volunteer shared: “I have a son that has Autism and ADHD and went through a rough time. He lost his job, was becoming very closed in, he was cutting himself off from the world. The Job Centre suggested volunteering. With a lot of persuasion, he went and never looked back, he’s so much happier - smiles when gets in the car at home time even when he’s tired, he’s so much chattier. He’s even asked if there’s any jobs, his confidence is beaming again.”

We would like to give a massive thank you to our volunteers for not only giving back to the community but also supporting each other to thrive and grow.

By protecting natural habitats and cleaning up around the Mill, volunteers are learning new skills and looking after their local area.

Barnsley Museums is celebrating ! 🎉

It is always great to see our volunteers enjoying their experience at Worsbrough Mill. We would love to share a massive thank you to our volunteers for their hard work and support on a range of activities and projects.

One volunteer shared how they enjoy being part of a team and feeling valued: “Paul is just fantastic, the whole team is. There's a shared love and value of what we're doing. We've attended the events through the project and there are so many layers to what we do here that have been strengthened through Millennium of Milling.”
