🚂 A Visit Worth More Than Money! 🎩

Today we were delighted to welcome the wonderful team from Nightingale House Hospice, along with the one and only Mr. Monopoly, (Rich Uncle Pennybags) who came to personally thank the Wrexham Miners Project for sponsoring a square on the brand-new Nightingale House Monopoly Board.

It was a pleasure to support such an incredible local charity. The life-changing care, compassion and support that Nightingale House provides to patients and families across our community is truly inspirational, and we are proud to play a small part in helping their fundraising efforts.

At the Wrexham Miners Project, our mission is simple: Saving History, Supporting Community. Every day we preserve the story of our mining heritage while creating opportunities for people of all ages through our museum, educational tours, community café, art studios, wellbeing activities and inclusive projects.

And remember… if you haven’t visited the Wrexham Miners Project yet to experience one of our guided tours, explore our unique historic building or see the amazing community work taking place…

🚔 Go to Jail… Go directly to Jail! 😄

(Well, that’s what the Monopoly board says!)

Thank you again to everyone at Nightingale House for visiting today, and to Mr. Monopoly for bringing plenty of smiles along the way. Together we’re proving that when local charities support one another, everyone wins.

We are absolutely blown away by the incredible effort and passion shown by the children who created their own Gresford Mining Disaster Museum at school following their visit to the Wrexham Miners Project.
After this amazing event, the Wrexham Miners Project were honoured to be invited to visit the school and see first-hand what the pupils had created. We were amazed by the knowledge, creativity and dedication that had gone into every aspect of the museum, and it was clear just how much the story of Gresford had inspired them.
We were also treated to a performance by the children, who sang several songs including Lost in the Dark by local band The Declan Swans. This was an extremely moving moment, and we were genuinely blown away by the emotion and understanding they brought to the performance.
It was a privilege to be joined by NEWMAT’s Alan and Margaret Jones, whose decades of dedication have helped preserve the memory of the Gresford Disaster. Their knowledge and support added greatly to the occasion.
The pupils invited parents and families to experience their museum and raised an incredible £266 through donations and admission fees – a fitting tribute to the 266 men who lost their lives in the disaster. We are deeply grateful that they chose to donate the proceeds to the Wrexham Miners Project.
A huge thank you to the pupils, teachers, parents and everyone involved. Seeing young people embrace their local history with such enthusiasm and respect gives us great confidence that the legacy of Gresford will continue to be remembered for generations to come.
