Our unique lineup of rare and important military vehicles that we have rescued is considered to be one of the finest working collections in the world. At the Weald Foundation, schools, engineers, historians, modellers, enthusiasts, and collectors come together to discover and learn. We have carried out extensive work on many types of armoured fighting vehicles, including tank restoration. Our team

sources original components and, where necessary, create new parts from the original blueprints or examples. Our research into the history of every vehicle in our collection provides unique authenticity to our work. We strive to understand each vehicle’s story, where and when it was assembled, its role in combat, and the story of the people who operated them or fought against them. Our work in restoring vehicles and creating a centre of technical and historical excellence depends on your support. You can help by becoming a member or making a donation, ensuring that this important restoration work continues to flourish. By supporting the Weald Foundation, you can contribute to the preservation of these iconic vehicles and help educate the public about their history. Join us in our mission to preserve these pieces of history for future generations to appreciate and learn from. Join us in our mission to preserve history and promote its educational value. A donation that means more than words can easily capture.

Today, one of our members, Ian Henshaw, met with fellow member Tony to make a donation that is very close to his heart. Ian has kindly donated a series of photographs of his father, Bill, taken with the Panthers and Jagdpanthers built by REME after the war ended.

Alongside the photographs, Ian has donated his father's logbook. A small, well-travelled notebook that his father carried with him in the tank. Its pages record every village they passed through, with the ones they fought in marked out. A quiet record of a young man's war, carried in a pocket and kept safe ever since.

The collection will be delivered to the Foundation soon, and we will be sharing Bill's story with our members in a series of Inside Track articles in due course.

We would like to thank Ian for this kind donation. We will look after these as carefully as your family has, and we will make sure your father's memory and legacy continue with the Foundation for generations to come.

After a longer weekend break, due to the May bank holiday here in the UK, the team is back with a series of 'smaller' jobs that need tackling.

One of the jobs was painting The Wheatcroft Collection Sd.Kfz.223 'Balkenkreuz' as per the German instructions. As the vehicle is being finished to a later standard, it will have the white outline with black centre 'crosses'.

While there was never an official order to paint the black centre cross, it became normal to see this version of the 'Balkenkreuz' even before the Dunkelgelb was introduced as the standard exterior paint. Not all of the crosses have been painted yet, and they will require minor touches, as it's very hard for the layers not to bleed into one another.

It sure does look very different from our Sd.Kfz.223 1939 white 'Balkenkreuz'. We can't wait to take both vehicles out and grab some photos of them together.

The Jagdpanther Maybach HL230 P30 is running much smoother now. We are very close to get it tuned correctly. We did an emissions test and it seems to be better than some modern cars…

More maintenance is being carried to our Jagdpanther Maybach engine. It was not running well, but we seem to be getting very close to get it tuned correctly.
