Art of Protest Gallery

Art of Protest Gallery Contemporary Art Gallery showcasing work inspired by political and social unrest.

Street art, Tattoos and iconography from popular culture are the most consistent visual vernaculars for people today. Advertising, whether online or on the street, has dominated
and become a visual Esperanto for the world. The cultural production born of this reality, while common and popular in the very largest and most diverse cities of the world does not break through to everyday conversations

outside of these established arenas. The algorithms of the internet seem to create silos of like minded people, while the goal of the Art of Protest is to push these conversations beyond the borders of country, religion, class and social media groups;to illuminate the common ground
that we all stand on through the prism of visual culture. If we are to engage and recognize the social value of a more connected global community the visual culture resulting from these changes needs to be dispersed
and discussed beyond the echo chambers of specific interest groups. If the creative production of a period of time is the historical barometer of that time; the role of landscape painting as a critique of industrialization and colonialism in the 19th century is as lost as the religious messages embedded in the rich allegorical paintings of Renaissance Italy. Art Now is Urban Contemporary dialogues
on environment, consumption, identity and the global audience.

An Important Update on Our Gold-Embellished Works ✨

Gold has reached unprecedented price levels 📈, directly impacting the artists we work with who use 22 and 24-carat gold in their creations.

As a result of these rising material costs, we will be implementing price adjustments on many of our gold-embellished works from 1 April 2026. This will be our first price increase in over 18 months and reflects our continued commitment to supporting exceptional artists while absorbing costs wherever possible.

Until then, all currently available pieces featuring hand-applied gold remain at their current prices.

We are committed to transparency and to keeping our collectors fully informed 🤍 If there is a piece you have been considering, or if you would like to know which works will be affected, please get in touch.

Beth and Craig will be very happy to assist.

And yes… if you listen closely, you may just hear Beth in the background trying not to lose it at Craig’s clanger of an opening line 😂

🔥 – “Vital Ingredient” 🔥

“If you don’t have Rizla, you’re f**ked.”

Layered, loud and unfiltered.
This original mixed media artwork explodes with colour, character and chaos. A mash-up of expressive faces, graffiti scrawls and bold street textures, Rizla cuts through the centre like a punchline, tying the whole rebellious narrative together.

From dripping paint and raw linework to sharp pops of yellow, blue and red, this piece feels alive. Gritty, humorous and unmistakably Gilgun.

🌊 Chloe McCarrick – Symphony of the Sea (Rachel Carson’s Love Letter) 🌊

A beautifully detailed framed original by Chloe McCarrick, created as a tribute to Rachel Carson and her enduring environmental legacy.

🖼️ Framed original
💷 £575

McCarrick is known for her contemporary interpretation of the historic cyanotype process, producing sculptural, multi layered works that connect science, history and the natural world, often honouring pioneering women.

Inspired by Carson’s groundbreaking sea trilogy including The Sea Around Us and The Edge of the Sea, this piece reflects her deep connection to marine ecosystems and her role in shaping the modern environmental movement.

Created using cyanotype, 3D hand cut collage, handmade paper and 24 carat gold leaf, the work layers portraiture and marine imagery into a dimensional Prussian blue composition, hand finished to create a luminous, tactile surface.

🔥 Prefab77 – Soulcraft 🔥

A powerful original from Prefab77, Soulcraft is a striking fusion of rebellion and refinement.

Prefab77 is the artistic practice of UK-based contemporary artist Peter Manning, known for blending punk aesthetics, revolutionary iconography and romantic portraiture. Emerging from the underground street art scene, his work combines classical beauty with raw urban textures, creating bold pieces that challenge authority and celebrate individuality. His signature style layers intricate detail with distressed surfaces and powerful symbolism.

Created using acid etching, screen printing, spray paint and Indian inks on 0.9mm rusted steel, this mixed media piece is sealed with a luxuriant layer of varnish, enhancing the raw industrial texture beneath. The result is a bold, layered work that feels both weathered and timeless.

✨ PIETRO SANNA - NEW COLLECTION✨

Our first delivery of works from Pietro has arrived for 2026 and it was worth the wait 🤍

This drop consists of two individual plates, a striking duo of plates and his very first pair of mini plates, a beautiful evolution of the collection that took us all by surprise last year.

This marks Pietro’s second release of plates, following his debut collection in the latter part of 2025, which completely sold out within days of arrival. If you missed out then, now is your moment.

Original works, hand built using earthenware clay, layered with underglazes, coloured glazes and glossy transparent glaze, finished with 24K golden lustre. Each piece is a 360° canvas, rich in detail and narrative.

We don’t expect these to be here for long. Pop into the gallery to view in person or message us for videos and details.

✨ WELCOME TO THE GALLERY, PAUL CASSIDY ✨

We’re delighted to introduce Paul Cassidy to the Art of Protest Gallery portfolio, with a limited first collection of original works now available in the gallery.

Cassidy’s work asks a simple question, what is an icon today? Drawing on traditional religious formats that once depicted saints and martyrs, he reimagines modern pop heroes and cultural figures as contemporary Icons. Rooted in the Pop Art tradition, his work both celebrates and subverts familiar imagery.

Each 2D Icon is digitally composed from multiple source images, enhanced with colour and hand brushwork, then printed and applied by hand. Every piece is finished with a 24-carat gold leaf halo and set within a hand-cast, distressed frame.

Cassidy also creates 3D Icons, hand-casting figures such as Superman, Daleks and classical sculptures, assembled and detailed with 24-carat gold leaf.

Based in Glasgow, Cassidy studied at The Glasgow School of Art and has been closely associated with Glasgow Print Studio since 1992.

This first drop is limited and available to view and purchase in the gallery now. Contact the gallery for further information, images or pricing.

✨ BIG REHANG AT THE GALLERY ✨

The past two days have been a big one… Craig and Beth have completely transformed and rehung the entire gallery, across all three floors, for the very first time since opening the new spaces.

It was a daunting task to say the least, every wall reconsidered, every piece thoughtfully repositioned, and every floor reimagined. But stepping back and seeing it all come together, we truly believe you’ll agree it was more than worth it. The gallery is looking incredible.

With so much new artwork now on display and fresh conversations happening across all three floors, the space feels energised, bold and ready for the season ahead.

If you haven’t visited to explore the new floors since we expanded… where have you been?! This is your sign. Come and see what we’ve been working so hard on.
