A4 4468/60022 Mallard A page about LNER A4 Mallard In 1985 she was restored to working order and worked her final (so far) trip in preservation in 1988 over the Settle & Carlisle.

Mallard is an A4 pacific designed by Sir Nigel Gresley of the LNER, she holds the record of the fastest steam locomotive in the world at 126 miles per hour which was recoreded on the 3rd of July 1938. After a good career with the LNER and then BR she was withdrawn from service in 1963 to Clapham Transport Museum and then the National Railway Museum.
