As part of our ongoing Elmina Re-imagined series, this piece revisits life along the Benya River, centering on the fishermen whose daily rhythms have long defined the space. It also offers a perspective from Jago Hill, with Fort Jago as a visual anchor. Drawing from imagery spanning the 1940s to the 1970s, the work traces a continuous narrative of livelihood, landscape, and cultural identity across generations.
To ensure historical integrity, each visual element is carefully verified against our private archival collections and reviewed in collaboration with experienced curators. This layered process enables us to thoughtfully connect past and present, bringing fragmented histories into dialogue with the Elmina of today.
