THE COURTAULDIAN
“…the language of the art world is also beginning to shift. The category of “African contemporary art,” once both enabling and limiting, is gradually giving way to a more integrated understanding of contemporary art itself. If that transition continues without erasing cultural specificity the coming decade may mark not only the consolidation of Ghana’s art infrastructure, but its recognition as a genuine centre of global art.”

Many thanks to for this wonderfully in-depth feature.

PRAZZLE ARTS

Many thanks to for including in this fabulous list 💫

“Behind every major art movement, there are gallerists working tirelessly to champion artists, shape cultural conversations, and create platforms where creativity can thrive. These visionaries often stand at the intersection of artists, collectors, and audiences, influencing not just what we see on gallery walls, but also how art is valued and remembered.”

ADA - THE NEXT CHAPTER
Following five transformative years as a physical gallery space, I am proud to announce the evolution of ADA into a new expansive chapter: now reimagined as ADA Contemporary. This new platform deepens our commitment to Africa’s artistic community while forging stronger connections with global audiences and institutions.

Since 2020, ADA Contemporary Art Gallery has played a pivotal role in positioning Accra as a significant cultural force on the international art map. Through groundbreaking programmes and exhibitions, our gallery gained widespread acclaim and attracted the likes of Tate Modern, The Serpentine, Zeitz MOCAA and the LVMH Foundation. Participation in major art fairs such as the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair cemented our influence as a leader in the African art market.

As we now transition from our physical home, our mission continues with renewed momentum. Operating as a borderless platform, ADA Contemporary will focus on strategic collaborations with institutions, brands, and cultural spaces. It will lead curatorial projects, advisory services, and community outreach programs designed to connect artists to far-reaching audiences. Central to ADA’s ethos are the artists - those we’ve worked with, those we are currently working with, and those we look forward to collaborating with in the future.

This new model will enable us to continue to engage in global exhibitions, institutional consulting, cross-disciplinary partnerships, and artistic-led initiatives—all anchored in ADA’s founding values of advocacy, mentorship, and cultural dialogue.

ADA Contemporary will maintain a vibrant digital presence through the website and our online platforms, serving as a point of connection for collectors, curators, artists, and collaborators. From Accra to the world, ADA’s journey continues—bold, borderless, and committed to shaping the future of contemporary art from Africa and beyond.

To our art community - our artists, visitors, collectors, collaborators, near and far - thank you for believing in what ADA stands for. Thank you for cheering us on and for bringing our space to life.

CULTURED YOUNG DEALERS LIST
We’re proud to share that our Founder, Adora Mba, has been recognized in CULTURED Magazine’s inaugural Young Dealers List as one of the top young global galleries.

Young dealers play a vital role in shaping the art world—discovering emerging talent, championing underrepresented voices, and building artists’ careers from the ground up. Much of the art market depends on their vision and willingness to take risks.

A huge congratulations to all the other incredible dealers featured on this landmark list, and sincere thanks to [Editor-at-Large, CULTURED Magazine] for the recognition.

CULTURED MAGAZINE: YOUNG DEALERS LIST 2025
We are very pleased to announce that our founder, Adora Mba, has been selected as one of the top young galleries in Cultured Magazine’s inaugural Young Dealers List.

Young dealers have always played an essential role in the art ecosystem, scouting artists who often have not yet developed steady markets and building careers from the ground up. In many ways, the entire rest of the market hinges on their willingness to take risks.

Congratulations to all the other art dealers also featured on the list and many thanks to [Editor at Large, CULTURED Magazine] for including us is this incredible list!

THE PROMISE OF WATER

At Kaneshie Library—an eco-friendly community center empowering children through literacy classes, workshops, meditation exercises, and more—we gathered in creativity and care for a workshop led by two of our participating artists Sika Amakye () and Araba Opoku ().

The artists invited young minds to explore the deep connections between water, memory, and responsibility. Through art, the children reflected on their role in safeguarding our oceans, rivers, and streams—turning awareness into action, one bead and one brushstroke at a time.

Many thanks to Naafia, Curtis and Yaba of for fostering a safe space where creative narratives flourish; and also to the young artists themselves for their keen participation.

We look forward to your visit to ADA contemporary to see the artists’ works up close and to continue the conversations.

THE ALCHEMY OF COLOUR AND MATTER
14 MARCH - 27 APRIL, 2025

“The Alchemy of Colour and Matter” showcases how each artist’s unique approach to material and colour creates a collective narrative of transformation and fortitude. Engaging with diverse mediums including textiles, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, their works mirror the ancient practice of alchemy. Through layered surfaces, intricate textures, and symbolic narratives, each artist explores the fluid nature of existence, creating works that transcend their raw components.

“We are so thrilled about this group presentation. Each and every artist submits a unique and stunning viewpoint of their practice and working with Sosa has been a joy. Her curatorial eye is fantastic and she has brought a fresh perspective to the ADA space. These are the kind of collaborations that mean so much to us and our field.” – Adora Mba, Founder ADA contemporary.

“Bringing together these talented women artists in partnership with ADA contemporary art gallery exemplifies the power of collaboration. Adora is a trailblazer and has been a supporter of The 1897, so it is an honour to foster such a meaningful exhibition with her.” – Sosa Omorogbe, Curator & Founder The 1897.
