At Isthmia, in the land of the ancient Isthmian Games dedicated to Poseidon, history still resonates in unexpected ways.

Marios Podaras and the ancient Greek pandoura, captured during the soundcheck for Pausis ar Isthmia.

The strings of an ancient instrument meet the present in a place deeply rooted in the cultural and ritual life of the ancient Greek world.

A moment before the concert. A sound travelling through time. 🎶

The Last of the Mohicans on Ancient Lyre | The World Before

The whole world is on fire.
— Cora Munro

New premiere of Lina Palera at Seikilo Youtube Channel at:
https://youtu.be/kXzCY9FdqKI

From the fall of Sumer to the rise of Babylon, from the fall of the Titans to the ascension of the Olympian gods, humanity retells the same story again and again: that the world before falls into shadow when new empires rise. Yet its wisdom survives through music and myth, not to guide the new, but to remind us of what was lost.
In this video, virtuoso Lina Palera reimagines a timeless piece from the 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans on the ancient Greek lyre. Performed on a LUTHIEROS Lyre of Olympus, masterfully handcrafted in Greece, the result is a sound both mournful and eternal, a remembrance of worlds that have faded, yet never truly disappeared.

What happens when a melody travels from one musician to another? 🎶

Pendulum began in 2023 as a composition by Theodore Koumartzis for the ancient Greek lyre and pandura, inspired by the role of music in the sacred mystery traditions of ancient Greece.

Three years later, the melody travels again, taking on a new form through the creative voices of three musicians.
🏺 Ancient Greek lyre: Theodore Koumartzis
🎻 Violin: Marios Podaras
🥁 Ancient frame drum: Peter Somos

A meeting of ancient sounds, contemporary interpretation, and three distinct musical voices.

This is the idea behind Theodore's travelling melodies: the composition remains recognizable, but never completely still.

Selana is the name of the latest album of devoted to the poetry of Sappho.

Before the album will be officially released, we had the chance to listen some pieces during the Lyre Camp in Olympus Mountain.

A beautiful combination of the ancient lyre, cello , handpan and the narration of Yanis Perdikis.

‘The beautiful is that in which the many, still seen as many, become one.’

The last concert of the second week of the lyre camp was amazing! Getting to know each other for a week, playing the lyre every day and sharing our common passion for the ancient lyre will be something to remember for the rest of our lives.

Thank you!
