‘You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom’, a solo exhibition by Bregje Sliepenbeek ✨ On view until 21 November.

“Echoing the myth of Demeter and Persephone, Sliepenbeek considers the relationship between a mother and daughter separated, yet eternally bound. In the exhibition, however, it is encountered from the opposite perspective. Dedicated to the memory of the artist’s mother, Ine, You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom honours her unexpected passing last summer in Mount Pelion.

In antiquity, this myth offers an explanation for the cycle of the seasons with Persephone embodying vegetation: seeds disappearing into the earth when sown, remaining hidden for a time, eventually emerging from the soil. Like the seasonal movement held within, the exhibition reflects on the legacies that shape us. The love, protection, and trust, and the cycle that carries one into the other; seeds placed into the earth, hands that tend to them, flowers that may eventually sprout. “

"Όταν η Δήμητρα, η ολύμπια θεά της γεωργίας, χάνει την κόρη της, Περσεφόνη, στον Κάτω Κόσμο, κυριαρχείται από θλίψη και στερεί από τη γη τη δύναμη της καρποφορίας. Με την επιστροφή της κόρης της στον επίγειο κόσμο, η Δήμητρα χαρίζει ξανά γονιμότητα στο έδαφος και οι σπόροι αρχίζουν να ζωντανεύουν. Η επιστροφή της, όμως, δεν είναι ποτέ οριστική, καθώς η Περσεφόνη είναι αναγκασμένη να κινείται σε έναν αέναο κύκλο ανάμεσα στον κόσμο των ανθρώπων και στον Κάτω Κόσμο.

Απηχώντας τον μύθο της Δήμητρας και της Περσεφόνης, η Sliepenbeek αναλογίζεται τη σχέση ανάμεσα σε μια μητέρα και μια κόρη που χωρίζουν, αλλά παραμένουν ψυχικά αιώνια συνδεδεμένες. Στην έκθεση, ωστόσο, η σχέση αυτή παρουσιάζεται με την αντίστροφη οπτική. Αφιερωμένη στη μνήμη της μητέρας της καλλιτέχνιδος, Ίνε, η έκθεση You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom τιμά τη μνήμη της μετά την απροσδόκητη απώλειά της το προπερασμένο καλοκαίρι στο Πήλιο."

Introducing Julien Saudubray, our next artist-in-residence at The Paddocks.✨

Julien Saudubray (b. 1985, Paris) is a visual artist working across painting and drawing. His practice explores how colour, traces and repeated patterns can shape a painting. By applying transparent layers and embracing unexpected marks, his work aims to reveal its own process of becoming. Rather than being experienced as images, his paintings emphasize the changes, movements and moments that form them.

Julien holds a DNSEP from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, a DNAP from the Beaux-Arts d’Angers, and has also studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. He lives and works in Brussels.

His work has been exhibited across Europe, as well in Brazil and the United States, including exhibitions at FRAC Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Anna Zorina Gallery in Los Angeles and Cob Gallery in London.

Ο Julien Saudubray (γ.1985, Παρίσι) είναι εικαστικός και δραστηριοποιείται στη ζωγραφική και το σχέδιο. Η πρακτική του εστιάζει στο χρώμα, τα ίχνη και τα επαναλαμβανόμενα μοτίβα που συμβάλλουν στη δημιουργία ενός έργου, δίνοντας έμφαση στις αλλαγές, τις κινήσεις και τις στιγμές που το διαμορφώνουν.

Ο Julien είναι απόφοιτος του École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (DNSEP), του Beaux-Arts d’Angers (DNAP), και έχει επίσης σπουδάσει στο Art Institute στο Σικάγο. Ζει και εργάζεται στις Βρυξέλλες.

Το έργο του έχει παρουσιαστεί στην Ευρώπη, στη Βραζιλία και τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, με εκθέσεις στο FRAC Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Anna Zorina Gallery στο Λος Άντζελες και Cob Gallery στο Λονδίνο, μεταξύ άλλων.

For the 10th edition of ArtOnPaper Brussels, we are pleased to present a solo presentation by Katerina Moschou.

Working across paper and translucent materials, Moschou (b. 1991, Athens) weaves practices and forms that emerge through layering, joining and overlap. The series presented is rooted in nature and comprises of successive stages of exploration of the physical world, drawing attention to the artist’s focus from one area to the next.

Beginning from the dense, constantly rearranging life of the underland, to the mineral surfaces and reflected light of the rocks of the island of Aegina, and then into gardens and the unseen life of plants. Grafting becomes both a material method and a metaphor: two distinct elements connect and heal as one, while traces of their previous forms remain visible.

Introducing Maisie Maris, our next artist-in-residence at The Paddocks✨

Maisie Maris (b.1993, London) is a sculptor working across metal, textiles, ceramics and drawing. Her practice explores the relationship between human bodies and the landscapes we inhabit, engaging with themes of vulnerability, interdependence, and loss. Often drawing parallels with ecological grief, she creates installations inspired by drawings, photographs and organic materials, evoking systems of care and repair through techniques such as natural dying, embroidery, knotting and layering.

Maisie holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. She lives and works in Athens, Greece.

Recent selected exhibitions include: (Solo shows) Drowning in a sea of you at Electro Studios Project Space, St.Leonards (2026); Estou cheia de pedras nos bolsos at 21 Corpo Santo, Lisbon (2022); (Duo show) DIG IN at Staffordshire Street, London (2023); (Group exhibitions) We Were Always Here at Living Room, Athens (2025); Innocent Pleasures Suit Me at Warbling, London (2022) and I Knock on Your Skin at SET Woolwich, London (2022). She has participated in residencies with SNEHTA in Athens (2025-26), La Wayaka in Chile and Panama (2018–19) and Sail Britain in Scotland (2018).

Η Maisie Maris (γ.1993, Λονδίνο) είναι γλύπτρια και ασχολείται με μέταλλο, ύφασμα, κεραμική και σχέδιο. Το έργο της ερευνά τη σχέση μεταξύ του ανθρώπινου σώματος και του περιβάλλοντος, εστιάζοντας σε ζητήματα ευαλωτότητας, αλληλεξάρτησης και απώλειας. Συχνά δημιουργώντας παραλληλισμούς με το οικολογικό πένθος, δημιουργεί εγκαταστάσεις χρησιμοποιώντας σχέδια που έχει συλλέξει, φωτογραφίες και οργανικές ύλες, αναδεικνύοντας συστήματα φροντίδας και αποκατάστασης μέσα από τεχνικές όπως η φυσική βαφή, το κέντημα και η σύνθεση.

Η Maisie είναι απόφοιτος ΜΑ από το Royal College of Art και BA Fine Arts από το Goldsmith, University of London. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα.

Save the Date ✨ We are pleased to present ‘You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom’, a solo exhibition by Bregje Sliepenbeek opening on Saturday 26 September, 7.30–9.30pm.

Reflecting on the myth of Demeter and Persephone, Sliepenbeek considers the bond between a mother and daughter separated, yet eternally bound. Honouring the memory of the artist’s mother, the exhibition takes shape around a myth of loss and transformation, and the eternal rhythm of life.

'You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom' comprises a new series of sculptures and metal works, stemming from the artist’s residency at The Paddocks earlier in 2026. Seeds, hands, and flowers, cast and hammered in metal, give form to grief and growth, exploring the invisible inheritances of love, protection and trust as fertile grounds.

Opening Saturday 26 September, 7.30–9.30pm

Με έμπνευση από τον μύθο της Δήμητρας και της Περσεφόνης, η καλλιτέχνις ερευνά τον δεσμό ανάμεσα σε μια μητέρα και μια κόρη που αποχωρίζονται, παραμένοντας όμως και αιώνια δεμένες. Τιμώντας τη μνήμη της μητέρας της Sliepenbeek, η έκθεση διαμορφώνεται γύρω από έναν μύθο απώλειας και μεταμόρφωσης, αλλά και από τον αέναο κύκλο της ζωής.

Η έκθεση ‘You Sowed So Much I Can Bloom’ περιλαμβάνει μια νέα σειρά γλυπτών και έργων από μέταλλο, που φιλοτεχνήθηκαν με αφετηρία τη φιλοξενία της Sliepenbeek στο The Paddocks το καλοκαίρι του 2026. Σπόροι φυτών, χέρια και λουλούδια, χυτά και σφυρηλατημένα σε μέταλλο, δίνουν μορφή στη θλίψη και την ανάπτυξη, ερευνώντας τις αόρατες παρακαταθήκες της αγάπης, της προστασίας και της εμπιστοσύνης ως γόνιμου εδάφους.
