nafa's residensi offers an art residency program that is designed to provide artists with the opportunity to focus on their practice and research. Residencies are offered by invitation or through a call for applications. Priority is given to applications that reflect interests and engagement with South East Asia and the region at large. GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS of NAFA’S Residency
- This residen
cy program is open to artists from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
- The maximum age of the potential residency artist is 35 years old. He/She must be physically and mentally healthy.
- This program is open to artists from all genres, however the final selection is up to the NAFA’S Residency Management.
- Currently, only two-dimensional artworks (paintings) are accepted.
- This residency program is either offered by way of invitation or through a call for applications.
- The duration of the residency is either three (3) or six (6) months.
- Priority is given to artists who are interested in doing research, engage and reflect the importance of South East Asia and the region at large.
- The artists are expected to be able to interact, adapt to the social communities and surroundings of NAFA’S Residency.
- The artists are expected to give full commitment and participate in the following programs conducted by NAFA’S Residency.
- The programs are:
Exhibition
Artist talk
Lecture and/or workshop (tentative)
Visiting galleries, art institutions, local artists, and art infrastructures. Research
- The residency application must include: An updated CV, three to five (3-5) images of recent artwork, artist statement, and the concept of artwork in general. ARTIST:
- Indonesian artists who do not reside in Yogyakarta, are expected to pay for their own transportation expenses/ticket to Yogyakarta.
- Artists from Yogyakarta are allowed to work at their own home/studio. However, they are expected to come to the residency at least 3 times a week and interact with the other artists.
- Foreign artists are expected to handle any issues regarding visa (if any) themselves.
- Although assistance by assistant artist is provided, the artists are expected to be able to take care of their own security and comfort.
- To have good faith and intention to complete the residency period as stated in the contract.
- Please bring personal communication devices (e.g. laptop, mobile phone) for personal usage. NAFA'S Residensi provides:
- At any one cycle of residency (6 months), there will be three to six (3-6) artists.
- Accommodation: Two (2) rooms and Internet connection (wi-fi).
- A studio space which, is to be shared with other residency artists.
- Allowance for living expenses and artwork production. The amount of the said allowance is pre-determined by NAFA’S Residency Management.
- An artist’s assistant, who will assist maximum up to three (3) artists at one time.
- Health subsidy/benefit is provided for during the residency.
- No family members are allowed to stay at NAFA’S Residency.
